Like the third picture, here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/190-STEIFF-BIG- … 27dfc87cee

It looks like just a lying bear with shorter arms and legs, and a front-facing head. I already have a pattern for a lying bear- are there any other major modifications that you guys think would be necessary to achieve this look? Or would I be better off buying an existing pattern (if one even exists)? I'll probably do a test-run in fabric first so I don't end up wasting any fur. This is for my own collection, btw, not to sell.

I just saw this post. But in case you haven't made your bear yet, I can offer the number of a pattern that is similar. I have the old Vogue teddy bear pattern 8658 that is pretty similar to the Steiff Molly. I also still have my Molly bear from when I was a kid. I'm out of town right now, but when I get home I'd be happy to compare the bear to the pattern more closely to see just how close it would be. I know my Molly's eyes aren't in the shaved area of her snout like the Vogue bear. But that should be pretty easy to change. And her snout is a bit shorter and rounder as well.

Do you want your bear to be 21" as well? The Vogue pattern is 23", I think. I can double check when I get home.

Here is a link so you can see what the pattern looks like:

(That's not my store and I don't know anything about them. I just Googled until I found the pattern and a decent pic of it.)

Hope this helps!
