How about this cutie?  It's an ili pika - a rare and endangered animal discovered in China in 1983.

Hi guys and girls, I've been away for a few days, but I'm back now and it looks like today's topic is rare and endangered species.
I found this guy online; personally I think he overdid it a bit (or maybe he's a she bear_tongue ) , but that's the beauty of nature. It's a hornbill.

In 2013, the olinguito was the first mammalian carnivore species to be newly identified in the Americas in 35 years (Ecuador).  It had been seen before but misidentified!  The Smithsonian describes it as a cross between a teddy bear and a house cat!   Sounds perfect to me. bear_wub

I love these.  bear_wub  Here's the Central Asian Pallas' cat (or manul), just blending in.
