I have a few pelts of fake fur I want to use for my new pattern I have made
but it does have a stretch to the backing, what can I line this with so it won't
stretch all out????
Is that what you have to do on faux fur that is sorta stretchy?
I want to make sure I like the new pattern before I cut it out in mohair
This is just a quick answer, I've never actually worked with a faux fur that had a stretchy backing... but I have heard folks on here say that you can line it with a good muslin to eliminate most of the stretch. Anyone who's actually done it... please confirm or deny "my" solution!

I just made a bear with knit back faux fur which I lined using muslin...I first tried fusible iron on interlining which was ok...ish... but it creased the pile in places through the heat of the iron...though I was careful not to press down....I then tried a permanent spray fabric adhesive which worked really well...and I simply glued the muslin to the backing leaving a non stretch fabric backing which was a great smooth surface to mark up the pattern on also.
It machined up splendidly and I stuffed the head ....still no stretch. Having done this I won't back off from knitted synthetics in future...they are easier to come by and there are some wonderful ones around.
Hi Tami ~
Wow; you're really going to town!
Haven't used them in a long time, but my experience was that they did stretch. I've used both fusible interfacing and muslin lining with good results to eliminate the stretch. Stitch Witchery is inexpensive and I think I used that once to adhere the muslin to the fabric.
ok thanks all,
will do!!!
Hi Tami..I have made lots of synthetic bears and sometimes I do line them and sometimes I like the stretch...it can be used to advatage with some designs.
OK..so I line mine with thin ( cheap) muslin ..... using an office stick glue on the musline to tack it down..same as for real fur which dosn't give.. You can even use those dryer sheets...it is the SAME thing as Pellon.... Winney
