Laurie, her claws are actually made of ultrasuede.  It took a bit of fiddling to get them the way I liked, but the hardest part was painting those nails!  bear_grin   Reminds me of why I never bothered with my own!  bear_grin

I have some glover needles that you would be welcomed to.
Another artist gave them to me years ago. I use to use them all the time, but started using other needles that I like better.
But they are desgined to work on leather and hides. They have a triangle shape to them.
Anyway, if you would like them just let me know.
Now I just need to go find them, but I know I have them in one of my organized containers on my sewing table.

Jared, it's so nice of you to offer the needles . . . thank you!  I'm almost done at this point, however, and I have renewed my vow to NOT make any more 'real fur' bears - unless I have another insane inspiration to tackle mink again!  This @&*#% bear is taking twice as long to make as my mohair ones and I've had to make and remake the ears three times.  *big sigh*  Thanks again for the offer . . . you're a peach!

Delightful topic!!

I'm working on some small, but simple, bunny designs for tucking into Easter eggs.  I've finally figured out how to make an under-belly for the silly things so now I've drawn out designs for different styles of bunnies and even a flying piggie.  A sitting rabbit like the old wool felt bunnies of the 30's and 40's is on the drawing slate too.

As for the larger bears, I'm working on center seam designs once again.  I've also designed a bear I think I may use for a limitied edition run or "line" of bears.  We'll see what direction the wind blows on that one.

So many projects!!

Warmest bear hugs,

Yes , I also have to do the salvage thingy. I feel so sad though. I mean when you salvage you have really given up on the poor wee blighter. bear_grin  bear_grin     Matilda

We could get together once a year and have a mass funeral service for all the teddies that didn't quite make it. bear_cry  bear_cry  bear_cry
I don't think a mass teddy grave would go over well.

Aleta...you must post pics of your bunnies and flying pig when you're done!  I keep thinking of the Velveteen Rabbit sort....sigh, now there was a delightful story... and just in time for easter too!  bear_wub

Fun topic.    I am working on a combination realistic bear mixed with teddy bear.  So far so good.

Also a snow leopard.

I look forward to seeing all your new designs.

Sue Ann...I know what you mean about real fur.  I learned on the stuff and when I made my first bear form mohair t was such a treat!  Like a hot knife in butter by comparison!

Paula, I was thinking of a similar post.  So glad you started this.
I have been working on a bunch of new things.  Right now I am trying different muzzles and the sides of the head.  I am trying to find out what the effects will do to the forehead height...the wider face (working on anime), tipped head.  Just so many options going on here and Bootsie Boy is going crazy with all these napkin bear heads everywhere.  He keeps trying to steal them....bad cat!
Also working on feet and my airbrushing...plus I have a great idea for new eyes.  Hope I can make them turn out the way I see them in my minds eye.

So it sounds like everyone is doing new things...this should really be fun.

Nancy.....napkin bear heads?  What am I missing here?

DebbieD......you're right on track with the Velveteen Rabbit line of thinking.   bear_original   Little bunnies first though.  I've finished the first prototype already.  Changes are in order.  My eyes say the feet are not quite right.....a skosh too little.  I'm waiting for my Intercal order to come to make the piggie!  It should be here any day.   bear_original
