Dilu, great tip on dying the mohair and the pawpads at the same time. Very clever!!

I have used everything I think. Love leather and suedes. Ultrsuede is great for big bears because of its strength. I will pick up unusual fabrics and pop them in my stash because you never know.
At the moment with needle felting I use the mohair or felt. Depending on what type of detail I wish to use. I love mohair paws when I trapunto the paw pads. That way I can have hairy paws between the pads and toes.
I have an idea for painted silk. But am having trouble sourcing the silk here in WA. All I can find are those painted scarf kits.  I would like the silk for my frog. (yeah I know, it still isnt made) bear_grin
I havent embroidered paws yet, but do have a small bear waiting for just that to happen. bear_thumb Matilda          PS: IMAGINATION EVERYONE!!!!!!   USE IT bear_grin  bear_grin

Interesting topic...... I use ultrasuede or wool felt.I love the wool felt as it " gives" around the curves nicely.

Depending on the bear,,,I also like to use cotton velveteen , it can be dyed too...then sometimes I use real velvet
( lined ) and I do use the silky  fur coat lining if its nice,,, always lined the fabric types of materials...
Recently I found some very interesting textured upholstry fabric at a shop here...Ill be on the outlook for more of this..its weight is perfect for pads...Winney

Marie, Sassy's sells cashmere.  I've never baought any cashmere so I don't know what is a good price for it, but this might be another option for you.
