Posts: 1,153I know you are probably all thinking, what the heck is Nvu...but then I may be surprised. I hope I am.
It is a software that is used to edit your website. I am having problems adding pictures to my site. Text goes on ok but graphics and photos is a problem.
I hope somone out there has used it.....

OntarioIt's pretty good, the only problem is you can't inbed flash in it. For a WYSIWYG thats free, it's pretty good :)
I like dreamweaver.

MATTHEA...I don't know what a flash is. This is something that Carrie (my web designer) sent me. I don't know where she got it. When you say flash, are you referring to pictures and graphics?...that is where my problem is.

Posts: 1,153Matthea, I understand completely...you did a great job. I do think, that my site was created strickly in HTML...I could be wrong, Lord knows that happens all the time.
I wasn't aware there were so many programs you could use to create with...very interesting.
Those chop sticks are a riot and wouldn't it be fun to have a little bear pop up instead of flowers....just too cute.
You are so fortunate to have your hubby and John to help. WOW!!!
I still am at a stand still, however...on what might be the problem with uploading pictures with Nvu. Any suggestions?

OntarioLet me download it and check, but I know a problem I once had when I was uploading a site that pictures wouldn't show up.
I kept uploading with the pictures and then nothing, everything but the photos. I to complain and cussing out the computer, then Mat asked if I had put the photos where the html code was supposed to be reading them from. I am still not 100% sure why it wouldn't take the pictures and throw them up in the directory. What helped me is I uploaded all my pictures in one place (ex. http://bears.com/pictures), then I got the code to snag them from there.
I am sooo lucky to have the guys to help me out with it. My best friend, Travis, is also in the industry. My site building is going to go like this: I dictate, Mat designs, John programs, and Travis builds. That is, when I finally know what I want. I'm a little indecisive and taking my sweet time.
Posts: 1,153Matthea, I uploaded the pics to my directory from 'My Picutres' She told me to just copy/paste them anywhere in the directory. When I right clicked to paste, it didn't work...you have to Ctrl V to get them to paste in the directory. Just a fluck I guess.
I am not sure I understand how you created bears.com/picutres. Could I use photobucket, what I mean by that, is .... is bears.com/pictures used to host the pictures first, then you got to Nvu and pick them up from that site you created?

OntarioI use a MAC so I'm not sure about the clicking thing (we only have one button, and a bunch of multi-key shortcuts)
Bears.com I just made up. With an old site I did I used the ftp to transfer the pics first, then got the program to snag them. Just like you said. The same can be done by uploading to another site like photobucket then using the links from there and typing in the the html <IMG SRC="link to where your pic is"> It's a pain, but can be done. I've used it when I'm linking from webshots, but I have looks through pages of the source code to actually find my picture in all the html gobbeldgoock. Another thing to check first if you link from another site, is if they mide. A lot of places don't like it if you 'hot link' your pictures from their site because then it's feeding off their bandwith.
