Our little girl cat had to be put to asleep today.
She became ill really quickly so it is such a shock to us.
She was my hubby's little girl and he is so sad - i don't know what is worse, seeing him distraught or knowing that i'll never see her again.

I'm posting a pic of Fanny shortly before she became ill, i suppose in retrospect i can see how the illness was building behind her eye now.

Posts: 3,177i can't believe that a cat who was such a pain in the arse could be loved so much - she was more like a dog than a cat. Following us everywhere and doing as she was told like a dog, when she felt like it, i am never ever going to have any more pets. i don't think i could take it when they go.
I still have two ginger mingers left. One of them is Tuppence who is Fanny's mum and the other is Figaro, a moggy who has more dignity in one paw than most humans have in thier whole body. They are both old and have health problems so i'm looking at them now thinking 'how long do i have with them?'
Oh dear, animals are supposed not to have souls but when they die they break your heart and make your soul bleed don't they? I can't believe that animals are less than us when they can sometimes complete us.

I'm so very sorry to hear about your Fanny girl. As I sit here at the computer my little princess, Gracie, is purring her little heart out on my lap. I can't even imagine your loss...... Around here we look at our kitties as our children in furry suits. The thought of losing one of them would just shatter my heart.
My heart breaks for you and your hubby and your other little furry children. You know they will be missing Fanny too.

The fur on her belly was the most wonderful peachy/white colour - she hated being groomed though
