Hi all,
I am sure that this has probably been a topic before, but I am having a hard time finding it.... I hear a lot of rave about oil paints for highlighting/shading bears. Are these just regular oil paints, or special ones? And if they are regular ones (like one would buy at a local hobby store) then sorry for the dumb question, but how do you use them, and do they take a long time to dry? Any advice/info on this topic would be wonderful!!!
Thanks in advance!
Kimberly W.
From what I recall... You use a dry brush and wipe off excess paint before applying it to a bear... Shelli is a master with the oils... she would know.. I use acrylics, prisma colored markers and prisma colored pencils... never used oils
Kimberly -
Here's the link to Shelli's original post about her use of oil paints. It's so very helpful and how so many of us got hooked on oils. Hope it helps you!

Kimberly,
I am under as time constreaint and i have to really hurry.....check the reference library...Shelli had quite a bit about ooil paints.
i use plain olf B flat oil paint in a tube....i can mix my colors that way....and i use the flat type brushes and i use them nearly totoly dry...so that the paint goes on in layers, its impossible to take off so go light and slow!
But do try it, practice on scraps until you get the feel for painint on fur
it does add dimention- also some peo[ple use acrylics and airbrushing....some use the pens....anything is acceptable....no rules!!

uh oh here he comes....
