For artists and collectors sponsored by Intercal...your mohair supplier and Johnna's Mohair Store
I used to make bears in a far away time. They were for collectors and display. Times have changed and I want to make bear for my little grandson to love and cuddle. Mohair is my favorite of course, but I am looking for suggestions - Joints, growlers, eyes, nose????? so many choices, so little time
Many thanks.
Barb
You obviously want it child safe so I'd recommend plastic doll joints. And plastic safety eyes.
A nice soft synthetic fur from Intercaltg.com or Edinburghimports.com.... softer and silkier than craft store fabric.
As for a growler.... I don't care for them and can have a lasting impact on a child, believe it or not. Could be they love it or they'll hate it.
Kids seem to like floppy..... plastic pellets in the feet and tummy perhaps? Not stuffed very firmly.
You could search on eBay for patterns..... there are tons!!!
Also, if you want more info and our member opinions and advice on growlers, safety eyes and joints, or just overall child-safe bears use the SEARCH feature at the top of screen here in the menu list across the top. (The girls will all laugh at me for suggesting this as I HATE looking things up and had the hardest time using the search feature but it's now my best friend and really is simple if you have a bit of time to sift through the posts.) just type in a key word or two and it will bring up and threads that contain info on that very subject.
Best wishes on your new bear making adventure!
Hugs,
Daphne

great idea! Interesting thoughts about the growler - I loved mine, but your point is well taken.
Thanks again
