::D
I have always wanted to go to the Olympics and now I can Whoopeee!!!!!
From a very smiley faced JANE
Congrats! I heard what Frances big wig said. What a jerk!
ps- I love your food! Give me a sticky toffee pudding anytime and some cheddar and I'm pleased as punch!
Yes, Jane . . . I read the news in the paper and on the internet! Big congratulations . . . that will be a thrilling lifetime experience. I remember when the olympics were in Atlanta, GA - USA, and I wanted to attend, but had too much going on in my life at the time. Yippee for you!!
Woohoo!! :D
Congratulations, Jane!!
Eileen
We're all bursting over here! Exciting times! Great for the youngsters too ... gives them so much to aspire to.
And now, will all UK/London-area board members please chime in and announce their precise location and number of guest bedrooms, so that I can "target" my Olympic "hotel" for 2012...
;):P:D
Great idea, Shelli! Your mind gets right to the heart of the matter!
Eileen
WOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOO WE GOT THE 2012 OLYMPICS !!!!!!!!
Shelli - we have always opened our house to visitors from all over the world for various occasions in the past, we've made so many great friends that way.
Every time there is a big music concert at Knebworth House we let our rooms to visitors as we are only 10 minutes drive away - the last time was the huge 3 day Robbie Williams concert and we had a house full of wonderful young Italian girls and boys.
We live in a village with a train station, so a 30 minute direct train ride takes you right into central London. We've got 2 spare rooms so get your booking in early as we will probably start advertising soon! Also the Olympic canoeing complex will only be a short drive away from us so if you're into watersports this is the place to be!
We will be going to the Games and taking our grandson who will be 7 by then - he's only 6 months at the moment!
Commiserations to the people of France - they put forward a wonderful bid ;)

Penny... Isn't Robbie Williams the full-body-inked dude, linked with every babe on earth, who spends a lot of time totally naked?
I don't know much about him except that he's known in Britain, and is... EXTREME. Is he a rock star?
PS Yes, my main source of international news is PEOPLE magazine. :P
Giggles,
Good on you England - we are really happy for you all and hope that it goes well.
Jaques Chirac complaining about the English food - what a jerk.
I just heard David Beckham on the radio and he has said that it has given him goose bumps
so he is very excited.
All the very best!!

Yes Shelli, Robbie is a true Brit rock and roller. He comes from my home town of Stoke-on-Trent. I used to do body weight classes with his mum. (my claim to fame!?).
Doesn't Chirac know our national dish is curry? Chicken jalfrezi with a garlic nan and a nice Californian chardonay to wash it down...hmm.
Yes Shelli, Robbie Williams is a fit tattoed dude and is really popular - possibly because he takes his clothes off ha ha ha - it certainly works for me!!!!
That's a great claim to fame Amanda, the only weights i've ever lifted is spoonfuls of cheesecake!!!!!
Yes, our national dish is curry - it's wonderful. Perhaps Monsieur Chirac has never really eaten in Britain apart from in posh eateries that never serve anything that resembles real food :/
I'm off to Spain tomorrow, up in the mountains with olive groves, goats and wonderful views. Anyone fancy coming along?
PennyPoodles
P.S. I'm watching the live stream of the Live 8 Edinburgh concert and they're playing 'Angels' by Robbie Williams - spooky eh?
AND my favourite man is there too - George Clooney
Sounds delish. Must move to Britain. Have been looking for some good, non-Thai curry restaurants, and there's a paucity of Indian epicurean delights around here.
I was just thinking about bad boy Robbie Williams, and how foreign celebrities somehow seem so much more interesting than American ones (to me, anyway.) It's probably the accent; I'm such a sucker for lilting prose. But whatever the case, I am most certainly enamored of craggy, very masculine, foreign men... and it was only just now that I realized almost all of my top "crush" list are from the UK! Alan Rickman, Clive Owen, Sean Connery, Patrick Stewart, Colin Firth... not necessarily in that order. But then again, why not in that order?... The first four have voices to die for...
OH, am I going off topic again? Daphne? Anyone???
So you like the posh boys then Shelli? With a little bit of machismo thrown in too by the sounds of it
There's nothing worse than a guy looking great but having a silly voice. David Beckham springs to mind, i love him but his voice just makes me giggle

What's a "posh boy?" I don't know that expression. See... I learn something new on this board EVERY DAY!!!
I do like the hairy, testosterone-surging types. Not testosterone-surging as in, " Look at my muscles; I never leave the gym." Testostorone-surging as in, major chest hair, and a very gravelly voice.
There is also this (I think) Russian/Slavic actor whose name I do not know; he absolutely slays me. He was in, of all things, Home Alone 3, as the crime boss... and also featured in an episode of Law & Order (SVU, if memory serves.) He has an incredibly manly voice and this thick shock of dark hair that falls over his forehead... sigh...
Just for good measure, I must add: I LOVE MY HUSBAND. Who is, by the way, one of those masculine, testosterone-surging types himself...
Wonderful!!!
Hugs Louise
UK Congratulations!!!!! :D
Penny, I didn't know about Robbie Williams
but I just saw his pics in net....
I looove UK singer Badly drawn boy :D:D
His voice is so sweet. ;)
Hugs/Marie
Oh congratulations !!!! That's great news. But I hope the head of the Olympic Commitee doesn't proclaim that the 2012 olympics were the BEST ever.. Because, you Poms WON'T beat our Sydney 2000 games! LOL
Yes Danni, the Sydney 2000 games were fantastic I was glued to the TV wishing I was there every minute. You Aussies sure know how to put on a good show! Not to say that we Brits will do our darndest to put on a better one, it's all part of the game you see. ha, ha!!!
Jane
Shelli, you don't know who Robbie is?????? Where is the shocked smilie when I need it????
I saw Robbie play live at Wembley about four years ago - I took my kids for a treat and boy was it a treat! We had a whale of a time!! Rock music, pop music, swing jazz (I LOVE the swing jazz!) he does it all so well and HE'S CUTE!
Apparently he hasn't broken America big time yet - you lot are a hard nut to crack! Go on ... let him in ... but don't forget to give him back!! ;):P;):D:D
