So, I've read all about washing mohair to make it nice and soft, but I 'don't think' I've read anything on washing Alpaca.... Does everyone wash their alpaca just the same as mohair, or no, don't wash alpaca?

Please let me know, as I'm thinking on an alpaca bear!

Thank you all so much in advance!

Oh, good point! I ordered alot of alpacas and was thinking of the same thing.. bear_wub
I would love to hear anything about alpaca...I alredy know that is amazingly soft and nice to work with.. bear_tongue

Personally, I think it's washable since the backing is the same.. I washed even real fur in machine

bear_shocked Julia you have to be sooooo careful washing real fur in a machine!!!  bear_shocked   The hides can easily disintegrate if they're submerged in water.  At the very least, it will do damage to the hide.   bear_cry

I'm interested to see what everyone thinks about washing alpaca.  I've not played with alpaca yet, but I would think it would act the same as mohair.

I love alpaca, both the manufactered and the real fur still on the hide.  I wouldn't reccommend ever washing or submerging fur on the hide into water but the alpaca with the cotton backiong should do just fine being wahsed.  I know some people do it in a washing machine.  I like to wash mohair by hand by hand.

Judi, I wash my mohair by hand.   bear_original
I had a coat with fox fur collar. I washed it few times in machine. It's still OK.  bear_happy

I have bright white jacket with rabbit fur collar that I also wash in machine.  bear_original  bear_whistle  Still wearable.

I do not wash my leather jackets... bear_cool

Julia.

I will wash my alpaca next week.  bear_tongue
