great, thanx to all who replied, ive got more of an idea on where and how to go about this now xx

Mowfi

well im kind of a newbie at this, but i guess i will never know unless i try x

Mowfi

can anyone help me with either finding a simple pattern for a kneeling bear or maybe give me some advice on how to adapt a pattern accordingly

Mowfi

wow, thanx for all the responses, and nice words.  I was inspired by everyone on the site to attempt my first bear, i spent hours reading the tips and techniques before i had enough courage to start.  I have to say it makes a change to see so many artists sharing their ideas and "how to's", you give so much to first timers like me. Thankyou all once again xx

046---Copy.jpgThis is my first bear from scratch, not bad for a first effort although any comments, suggestions or criticisms will be appreciated as i can learn from them

Mowfi

thanks joanne, that really has helped a lot, my brain was beginning to go to mush on this.  I have been trying to add the claws after sewing the legs together hahhaha, and going in from the non fur side, never thought of doing it your way but your way DOES make a great deal of sense, also thanx for the info on the shading, i havent attempted that as yet, seems a bit daunting but i might practise first i think

im in the process of doing my very first bear, and im learning fast through trial and error where trapunto pads and claws are concerned, i was wondering about shading and this might seem like a really stupid question but if you use the crayons, pens, markers etc do u use them on the fabric itself (underneath the fur) or on the top where the fur lies? Im only thinking of shading around the mouth area.
Also where claws are concerned....would you recommend adding the fabric stabilizer (working with faux fur)  AFTER the claws have been set?

Mowfi

wow, what a great welcome! Thankyou xx

Mowfi

hi everyone, new here but been reading a lot of the posts on techniques.  As for claws i was wondering about using the soft cat claw covers somehow as claws for the bears and was wondering if anyone would have an ideas on how to use them as such? or wether they would be appropriate to use at all?

Mowfi

hi to all, im new to this teddy bear making but found your site and was inspired
So far all i have made is bears from kits, but after looking around the site i think i might be a bit adventurous and try to create one from scratch..Great site, very informative and helpful xx
