There was a very good program on PBS a while back about dogs...and their breeding & the problems that have resulted from folks who breed dogs for certain qualities etc...it was an excellent program...wish I could remember the name of it. I know many have said bad things about...for example Pit Bulls...the whole lot of Pit Bulls isn't bad...I have know some sweet ones...it's the owners & breeders who want a fighting animal that is the problem!!!

I know it will not be a popular thing with many folks, but my hubby & one of the neighbors who has 4 horses (one new foal) both have come to the conclusion that a food rifle & scope is the only answer in this situation:( This feral is getting more & more agressive recently, it even tried attacking a neighbor lady at the gate to our neighborhood, & she immediately bought mace.
The pictures above are the neighbors horse & her new foal hours after she was born &who is about 2 months old now. Our Puppy Herk playing with our Cat Onyx & our little goat herd, yes we let them out to graze almost daily:) but we stay with them...It's our favorite entertainment...watching them graze & play.

Thanks Debbie,
We do live in "no man's land" and Animal Control has been called over & over in the past few years about these feral dogs & never caught a one...and usually doesn't even show up. Several neighbors have tried to catch this one & no luck. So our puppy thinks he is being punished now, because of having to be hitched. I hate this situation & when I think about the irresponsable pet owners in the world I get so mad!!! They rank right up there with the ones who use innocent kritters for testing torture!!!

All of the abuse is dreadful..and wrong...we are having a major problem here lately...a stray dog...who was part of a killer pack...who killed dogs in our neighborhood...and belongs to no one any longer it seems...and has also tried attacking people...trying to constantly come on our property...after our chickens & goats & cat & our Puppy Herk ran off with this dog the other day...and was gone for much longer than was comfortable for us...keeps coming back & coming back...so now we have to hitch our puppy...so he won't follow this dog...this is not fair to our puppy or our kritters or us...and this stray is totally unapproachable...what would you do??? This is a dog who has gone totally wild & is dangerous...This is a very sad scary situation...

This is something that I heard read at the funeral of a wonderful friend who died a few years ago...don't know if any of you have heard it before...but even though I do not know Linda or her wonderful Wally...I thought this was a fitting tribute to share.
The Dash
by Linda Ellis
I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on her tombstone
From the beginning to the end.
He noted that first came the date of her birth
And spoke of the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years.
For that dash represents all the time
That she spent alive on earth
And now only those who loved her
Know what that little line is worth.
For it matters not, how much we own,
The cars, the house, the cash,
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash.
So think about this long and hard;
Are there things you'd like to change?
For you never know how much time is left
That can still be rearranged.
If we could just slow down enough
To consider what's true and real
And always try to understand
The way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger
And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
Like we've never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect
And more often wear a smile,
Remembering that this special dash
Might only last a little while.
So when your eulogy is being read
With your life's actions to rehash
Would you be proud of the things they say
About how you spent your dash?

Wonderful Challenge Magda,
Thought I would share how my hubby does it...whenever he sees a military person..current or former...or a volunteer fireman...etc...for example last week, while hubby was in line in a store..and a nice older gentleman struck up a conversation...and mentioned being a veteran of the Viet Nam War, my hubby thanked him for his service.

Jodi,
We have more kinds of hummingbirds here in NM than many other areas...we are constantly making sugar water for the feeders...they do keep us busy...have you ever had a hummer sit on your finger when they are drinking from the feeders??? it is amazing!!!!They are such special little creatures!!!!
I used to think their beaks were like straws...but then I saw their tongues...wow!!!

I needle my thread...hold thread still & move needle eye over the thread. I use size 13 needles & "B" size Nymo thread.
