LOL ...I heard that creative people are lateral thinkers and usually do have their junk piled around them and its not unusual to have it strewn all over the house....that is literally lateral too.
It is difficult in our small place to keep the " stuff" confined to one room. I need to have my " stuff" all around me, it stimulates my ideas. That " stuff" is an extension of my process of creating....it's part of me.....Winney
Yup....I use cotter pins just like you all say ...so use the smaller discs in the body and the regular sized one in the limbs and head ....Yeah ! Now, I can get on with making my bear...Thank you everyone...as someone once wrote;
Mough ( Kiss ) Is that how its spelled ?.... Winney ( I did spell check..it dosn't have that word ).
Yikes ! Where do the bears play with the cats ?....he, he..
My room is just as bad...I bought an extra wide ironing board and keep that up for an extra work space...you know what happens...everything gets dumped there ...temporarly ? So when I need to iron I HAVE to move all that stuff. OK..so I take the board down to make more room to move around in and...you know what happens...I need to iron...and I don't have any place to open , look thru things..agh !.....can't win...Winney
I know there is a tutorial on Edinburgh but they have been down all day long.
What my question is...I remember reading if you want the joints to be real wobbly ....
use a different size joint in the body than you do in the limb ....I just can't remember which one is smaller and which one is bigger...can you ? Winney
I simply love them Jane.. they are really lovely....what beautiful bunch and a lot of work .
I make 20 fashion bears, for a long time now I have wanted to make some japanese dressed bears!
I was just looking at some Japanese satin print at JoAnn's a few weeks ago, if I don't buy some soon it will all be gone.
My oldest son is a musician and in 1981 he had a band called "Bamboo " . they all dressed in Karate / kimono style tops. They played the circuit in Florida for a year. He bought some authentic ( expensive) japanese satin silk fabric that had pale aqua background and peach and yellow crysanthemums ..georgous fabric....I made him a lined kimono top.
He went back to Florida..the kimono did not last long as someone stole it.... boo hoo...Winney
That is amazing ...I didn't know such things existed ! What fun you are having Hayley ...Winney
Oh what's the matter with me...I thought you were talking about whiskers ! Bumble bees don't have whiskers !!! LOL.... Winney
On which end do you glue the bead ?...Winney
Oh yes...no colored tissue ! I make a lot of white and off white bears...can you imagine if that when the customer gets her bear it is pink and blue polka dots??? I can hear it now....LOL.
I know I get off topic all the time..jump from here to there in nothing flat, add a few more friends like that and you are in real trouble ...LOL, I love it...Winney
Oh Chris ! That's terrible...boo hoo for the little sheep..Winney
There is hardly a thing I can add , the bunch of us expressed it all! I feel really bad that something like this can happen so fast..it's very hurtful to everyone. What a difficult thing it is. Heres my hug Shelli (((((( Hug ))))))).
Hi Terri.. Sound like there was 2 diffrent earthquakes...from the above posts... This whole west coast line from Mexico to Alaska presents a problem..I don't love earthquakes !
Hey Teri you live in Brookings, is there any chance of you coming to the meeting we are having ?...it's only for about 2 hours but I would love for you to come if you can....Winney
Laura yup....Winney
YIKES !!! That's very close to home ..how close is the ocean it to your house ?
You know...a few years ago we had a pretty long and strong earthquake here in Oregon, we were living in Gold Hill. In all my years of living in Ore. I have NEVER felt an earthquake here til then. Times are a changing .....
I do believe the Cascade range of mountains can blow anywhere at any given time, we have heard it is over due...oh well.. nothing I can do about it.eh? Keep making them bears...
I have been in many earthquakes in California and was terrified, however living here is not as bad because we do not have so many people and cars, etc. We already stock up on food and have a network of friends.
If there were an emergency here we are better able and ready to depend on ourselves....that is unless a whole mountain near us blew up and spewed its leathal ash around...we just are not in control here at all, anywhere you go disaster can strike ...so just calm yourself Winney....OK.....Winney is OK now....
Politically incorrect , with inappropiate themes? ...where did you see them ?
May be they are the ones I saw in our Ted magazine ....some bears that were Halloween type, monster, mummy. etc. they did not appeal to me. I thought they may appeal to some people who collect folk kinds of bears ,altho these were very dismal looking to me, not cute at all....I would say they go along with the " Gothic " style you see some kids wearing today..suppose to shock people...which I think they look like aneorexic vampires..LOL...Winney
Whew ! I just read all the posts and found out that was on the 6th... Winney
There was a warning for Oregon coast last night ???? Winney
Sounds kinda smoky to me...old Smokey the bear... Smokey the doll. Grandpa & Grandma Singe-ers.
Just don't try it out with synthetic fur,,,he, he,,, you will have a melting goopy looking bear but.... that could be a new style?
Don't laugh..I read about someone who was taking those cheapie bears you get a Walmart and hanging them in some caves somewhere. The caves drip some sort of whatever that forms a crusty mummified look to the bears then they take them out and sell them to tourists....true, no kidding ..LOL
Then I am sure some of you have seen the " scented waxed over bears " ? Same Walmart bears ( man are they making some money ) they are imbedded with wax and have a wick...you can still see its a furry bear underneath.
I wonder how far you can burn that candle for before you have a " Bear Fire "....LOL... Winney
LOL Laura...kitty distressed fur ball....doggie distressed slobber ball...Winney
Thank you so much Shelli. This is sure to help many of us and I would encourage many of you all to get down to business and start working towards entering you bear into competition.....including me ! ..LOL.
If you don't think your bear " is good enough"...... how many times have you heard that ?...
If you really think that's true...then get on with it by learning more advanced bear skills, take some classes, buy some bear books and pay attention to developing YOUR own look! Practice and get real fussy with the details.
Be imaginative, have fun., be daring, why not ? ..doncha remember when you were a little kid daydreaming., fantasizing ......find that again and do it. I really do think that every single person can develope their own certain look.....it comes from their own likes and dislikes and deep down personal artistic expression. LEARNING THE SKILLS IS JUST A TOOL....you need to have them first ......it serves to provide us a way to express ourselves.
Then after you know all the rules, you can go out and break them...that is " think outside the box."
I am writing this as much for myself as for you all....LOL. Hugs to you all...Winney
Ah sucess is sweet...Glad you finally figured it out, Winney
Jane...that was such a happy dream...now, didn't I make that red one? OH glorious,,,I am back to singing my heart out and I have the best piano player around...I love the fantasy...your bears are so adorable, pretty colors and they look so happy..how could anyone resist buying them ?...Winney
Milli...He came out wonderful ! NIce antiquing , something I will try someday....Winney
Darling bear Judi and the Golliy is so sweet..they look wonderful together....Winney
Laura, Oh, A Judas goat is an uncut male with horns...he guards the flock. If a coyote or dogs come around he will aggressively chase them off .The sheep follow the goat as their leader he leads them out of troubles way..I have no idea why they call the goat a Judas goat.
Oh Kirsten ....your birdie boy is very handsome, that wary eye tells me he is a smart boy indeed...what a joker calling for Help ! I feel another story...short one..
My aunt had a Myna bird she asked me to baby sit ( for a yr?) his name was Andy.He had been mishandled I think and was very frightened at the drop of a hat..in this case my baby son wanted to help feed Andy and dropped his pascifyer into the cage...yikes! Andy just about beat himself to death against the cage until I could get it out.....he also attacked my hand and tried to kill it..no luck there, LOL.OUch !LOL, Ouch ! He's twisting my hand to death!
So..I had to keep Andy in my back porch just off the kitchen along with the guinea pig , away enough from people but close enough to fequently visit him and train him little by little.
My darling grandmother lived 3 doors away and when she came over I always recognized her knock... so Id say in a high pitch voice. " Come in " ! Well...some time passed then one morning before I was dressed, I was actually in a black see thru negelige...running around trying to get the baby and all fed so then I could get dressed.
I heard a knock at the door and at about the same time Andy said " Come in "... the milk man opened the door with the bill in his hand. We both froze and looked blankly at each other for a second..then I embarrassingly said as I tried to cover up.... " Oh. that was my Myna bird that said come in " ...I got this funny look that said " Oh, yes..right lady "... as he closed the door. What a shock ! I was able to later explain it to him and he then thought it was funny.
I found out later on that it was Andy that kept Butterscotch so well fed. too .Guinea pigs make a funny little grunting noise when they are hungry or want attention...so Andy picked up on this and keep everyone running back and forth to the porch giving them both attention and food....unknowingly smart animals........Winney
