Watercolor paper! Why didn't I think of that, Kim? :doh:  It reminds me that pastel paper also comes in lots of lovely soft shades and large sizes.
You all got me thinking beyond just paper and it occurred to me that I could also glue fabric to a sheet of posterboard to make a nice wrinkle-free background too. Now I just need something to photograph! lol    I'm slow but I'm working on it!

Does anyone know good on line source for colored poster board or something similar? I've been looking for some to use for photo backgrounds and the only colored sheets I can find are very bright colors... not what I had in mind. I've tried googling without much luck. Any help would be appreciated!

It's hard to know what to say. Everyone has given you good advice. I think being gently straightforward with children is best, then just listening and letting them express their feelings. Closure is important and Daphne's idea of a service is a very good one. I can't add much else except lots of heartfelt sympathy....

This is a great topic and has me bursting with questions. I don't want to pry into anybody's secret methods but I'm sooo curious....  Heather, did you paint those stunning polymer wings? If so, did you paint them before or after you baked them? Tami, what sort of clear paper do you use? Shelli, the bear in the top photo is my favorite of all your bears I've seen. She's simply beautiful. Are her wings made out of some sort of paper-ish material? They're very cool.

I was trying to make a pair angel wings out of some sheer fabric I found... I thought they looked okay until I saw all the lovely wings on this thread... I think I'll start over now...

Very cool and interesting Deb. I thoroughly enjoyed reading you posts. I never knew coatimundes lived in the U.S. or that people had them for pets.

So many people seem to think animals are disposable and abandon them at the first sign of trouble. It sound like your lovely lady is a handfull but you've given her a good home. Good for you! :clap:  :clap: I hope you can find her a good vet.
