Everyone was so kind last month when our Murphy passed on and I knew we would know when the time was right for us to have another dog to share our life and family.  I want to share the new addition to our family...JACKSON!
He is a big guy from our local Humane Society and is a 2 yr. old Rough Collie mix (I think the "mix" is "crazy" bear_wacko )
and is just the sweetest guy. He is very thin as he went into a deep depression at the shelter and wouldn't get up to eat or anything. He seems to be over that now and is quite 'spirited' to say the least bear_happy ! We've only had him 24 hours but already he has become part of the family (although our cat, Picasso seems less than impressed!)

Wow they are different.  Just how cuddlely would they be....or would you even want to cuddle one?

I used to think that too....until I had the chance to hold one! They feel...um...its hard to describe...like velour or cotton velvet thats been washed a million times....so soft.
Really sweet, although that picture isn't the most flattering... :photo:

Thanks Shelli! I'm sure at times this has felt like a thankless job being a "bear folk wrangler" but your support and love of the craft has been a great example to many.
Now...get to work!

Those are really cool pictures! You're right...that must be a well fed Polar. As much as I love them, they are incredibly vicious predators. Beautiful though... bear_wub
OT- you can see the city where I live on the map...Edmonton! bear_thumb

bear_thumb What am I most thankful for? I'm having 2 turkey dinners and I'm not cooking either of them! bear_thumb
I love to cook and I love my family but a big family meal is so much work!

I'd say you're right Mel. If I have a 'tear out' its usually that seam so in my house its referred to as:

Hey...isn't that what we're here for? bear_original
I didn't really have a meaningful contribution to the "postal discussion" (I think that maybe figuring out the post office, would qualify you to address world peace! ) but I am nervously following along your dilemma!
Can't wait to see your sweet girl!

Hi Jo
You should do the travel and tourism for the Canadian prairies! You have really helped me appreciate the beauty of where we live!

Man, I didn't think anyone would get it. I used to love Winona Ryder too...although I only wish she was 7 years older than me!  I watch "Heathers" everytime its on TV!

GO FOR IT ELIZA!

YAY me! I was starting to get a complex as we watch a lot of movies but I wasn't getting any of these....
Okay...I'm going to do a rather obscure one. My DH and I saw this rather bad movie years ago and the only thing we remember from it was this line which we use all the time:

"I wanna kiss you so bad right now, Dinky"
"Yeah...its good to want things"

I'll give you a hint: 80's movie...starred the darling of the 80's and early 90's movie world

Is it "What Women Want"? I saw this just the other night and I seem to recall it with the dog....

I had every intention to be there but some of our friends were going through a rough time and we missed it!
I would like to know how it went too!

I've found, and maybe this is just me, that the more enlightened folk (not necessarily "smarter" or more educated, but more enlightened) are the ones that can really get behind and earnestly celebrate another person's successes.  They might feel a brief stab of hurt or a twinge of jealousy, but they'll recognize it as such and then move on to the bigger picture, which is, "Yay you!  I'm proud of you!"

My DH and I have a saying " its just gonna take a little while to get my gracious face on" when one of us feels that stab of hurt or jealousy at someone else's success. The point is, you should always be able to find your 'gracious face'.
Sadly some folks like the ones hurting you, Lynette, don't find theirs.
Hard as it is, try to rise above it, my friend!

I'm so glad you checked in Eliza, I have been seriously worried about you!
I'm sorry that we scared you but I was really concerned about what was going on with you!
I know our Healthcare system in Canada is a bit different but I know I got my mental health drugs when I needed them through my regular doctor. It sounds like perhaps your new doc was just uncomfortable prescribing something new without a full history.
That being said, I would head to the ER right now. They will have a Psychiatrist on call and can probably straighten things out for you.

GO SEE A DOCTOR!!!!!! Go to the emergency room if you have to!

I totally second that! It is dangerous and POTENTIALLY DEADLY to cold turkey most antidepressants (they can affect your heart).
You need to find out why you are suddenly having side effects and then have your withdrawal closely monitored.
Please...this is not something to try and do yourself!
Take care,
Cheryl
