I am always telling you guys that we need to do our homework and knowing what is wrong with us physically is half the battle.  Once we know we can fight back!

Do I practise what I preach?

You betcha!!!

Yesterday my Rheumatologist gave me bad news-my neck and lumbar vertebra are crunched and impinging on the nerves....

Hmmmmm

This explains many of the headaches that you old timers know I get....

A Ha!  An answer!

I love answers!!!

It also explains why I ache so in the hips and legs.....and all this time I have been blaming my knee surgery....hmmmm

What's next?

Do my homework.  There is a book called Seven Steps To A Pain Free Lifethat is supposed to have exercises in it to help.  So as soon as there is some money in the account I will order it.

My arthritis patients used to complain about exercise hurting and so they wouldn't.  Which I would say is the worst thing you can do.  Because then you end up crippled but unable to move.

Hmmmm

which is better?

Crippled unable to move

or

Not quite so crippled because you can move?

You all know what I'm gonna do right?

No matter how bad it is, no matter what life throws at us, my little chickadees, it is still life!

And life lived in an recliner never moving except to go to the bathroom, like my mom in law, is not the kind of life I want for me.  I will keep moving until the day I die!

There's a bears to see and foxes to have come visit!  And Racoons who like to wash their food in the pool! The bunnies who try to get to my garden and the deer that are so beautiful.  We currently have a fairly young buck with a beautiful, as yet unbroken rack with 3 points.....I'm in love with him, He is so beautiful!

There's a forest to go galumphing through

And there is always HOPE

That's dilu's message for today-no matter how bad the situation that life throws at you, as long as you hang on to your hope, you can find the good and beautiful and joy in your life!

The doc talked about fusing the discs.  Yet another surgery?  I said; let me do my homework....let me do my yoga....lets see what the MRI says.....there's still time.....

On to the homework! And to you all?

THREE GOLLYGOOD CHEERS FOR LIFE

Let's live it to our fullest until we can't live at all

And Gollyheartfelt love to you all

Good for you Dilu!!!!  Keeps them bones a-movin' because if you're not moving, you're dead, right?  I agree: it's painful to exercise because the body isn't accustomed to it, but the less you exercise, the worse it will hurt to move!  Bad snowball effect... It's better to get through the aches and move right along!

As for fused discs, my dad had that same problem and had his discs fused.  If you decide to go that route, I sincerely hope yours turns out better than his did, as he's undergone 2 surgeries now and is still in pain... sometimes worse than before the surgery.

As soon as I'm back to work at school or sell a bear I will be looking for this book and the other that you sent me a link for. I wish they made them on tape as I find it hard to fit in reading time and can't even read 1/4 of the posts on here.

Glad to see your postive attitude, Dilu, and keep on looking for answers. I also am a firm believer in acquiring as much knowledge about every diagnosis as you can and trying whatever it takes to get healthy again.  bear_thumb

No matter how bad it is, no matter what life throws at us, my little chickadees, it is still life!

   AMEN, DILU GIRL!!

It's so tempting to avoid regular physicals and blow off appointments for mammograms (guilty, here  ) and all that.

bear_sad I just went through a full round of tests, hating every minute of it, and found out that I'm a lot healthier than I deserve to be!

I also learned that my high blood pressure and borderline-high cholesterol have returned to normal bear_thumb , thanks to all the extra doggie walking I've done since Bear came to live with us, bless his lifesaving hyper-energy bear_wub

When the news is baddish, take steps--get moving, one way or another . When the news is good, take more steps, because you can.

My Mom spent the last 20 years in a recliner too, and refused physiotherapy because 'it hurt'. She lived a long time, but in very poor health, and in a miserable mood.

Shari, it is possible the book is on tape.....check around on line.....I know what you mean about finding the time to read....it was tough when I worked.....hang in there hon....

Kimberly-I had too many patients with neck fusions tell me that it was worse after.....my motto is going to be to put that off as long as possible....I'm really sorry for your dad...

Kassie,  how about we all agree here and now that it wasn't a mundane car accident and it really was your old rodeoing days?  I'm all for magical thinking....it makes life more interesting!

And since this is between oh say about 500 of your closest friends, well it'll be our secret!  We'll never tell......you weren't planing on running for office were you?

thanks for the encouragement you guys-but remember this is life and we're all in it together!

Gollyhugs

I guess that's why I like the Gollys so much Dilu. They would never let the truth get in the way of a good story!

After I finsihed laughing I realized you are 100% right!!!  And real life can be so dreary-give me a goodgolly story any day!

c033.gif

Jenn I think you have a really good point too!  We need our phamaceutical companies....I know quality of life would be nil without some of the medicines that help make life moveable!

Lets keep laughing out there ladies!

Good for you Dilu, KEEP MOVING! I agree, I also always want to know everything that I can  about any surgery, procedure or drug that is recommended. I have a lot of faith in doctors but they can't possibly know everything about everything. Big hugs to you    hurting is NO fun at all!

Jodi

Thank you dearly for the prayers!  I love prayers.
c016.gif
when New Age type people tell me that there really isn't a God, I say even if there wasn't a God i would still pray....because words have power and thoughts have power.  The energy we put out into the universe is the energy we get back.

But I love prayers, because I do believe that God hears women pray especially.

special goodgollythanks for the prayers

In your quest, don't overlook the power of massage  bear_happy   I think you'll find that unless you have massaged, you will have tight spots in your hips and also along the shin bones and into your ankles from your knee surgery.  Massage has been around for thousands of years, and nothing seems to heal faster than 'touch'  bear_thumb
