Do I practise what I preach?
You betcha!!!
Yesterday my Rheumatologist gave me bad news-my neck and lumbar vertebra are crunched and impinging on the nerves....
Hmmmmm
This explains many of the headaches that you old timers know I get....
What's next?
Do my homework. There is a book called Seven Steps To A Pain Free Lifethat is supposed to have exercises in it to help. So as soon as there is some money in the account I will order it.
My arthritis patients used to complain about exercise hurting and so they wouldn't. Which I would say is the worst thing you can do. Because then you end up crippled but unable to move.
Hmmmm
which is better?
Crippled unable to move
or
Not quite so crippled because you can move?
And life lived in an recliner never moving except to go to the bathroom, like my mom in law, is not the kind of life I want for me. I will keep moving until the day I die!
There's a bears to see and foxes to have come visit! And Racoons who like to wash their food in the pool! The bunnies who try to get to my garden and the deer that are so beautiful. We currently have a fairly young buck with a beautiful, as yet unbroken rack with 3 points.....I'm in love with him, He is so beautiful!
There's a forest to go galumphing through
And there is always HOPE
On to the homework! And to you all?
dilu
Good for you Dilu!!!! Keeps them bones a-movin' because if you're not moving, you're dead, right? I agree: it's painful to exercise because the body isn't accustomed to it, but the less you exercise, the worse it will hurt to move! Bad snowball effect... It's better to get through the aches and move right along!
As for fused discs, my dad had that same problem and had his discs fused. If you decide to go that route, I sincerely hope yours turns out better than his did, as he's undergone 2 surgeries now and is still in pain... sometimes worse than before the surgery.

and I needed the boost today as I am having a very painful day today. As soon as I'm back to work at school or sell a bear I will be looking for this book and the other that you sent me a link for. I wish they made them on tape as I find it hard to fit in reading time and can't even read 1/4 of the posts on here.

Glad to see your postive attitude, Dilu, and keep on looking for answers. I also am a firm believer in acquiring as much knowledge about every diagnosis as you can and trying whatever it takes to get healthy again.

   AMEN, DILU GIRL!!
It's so tempting to avoid regular physicals and blow off appointments for mammograms (guilty, here  ) and all that.
I just went through a full round of tests, hating every minute of it, and found out that I'm a lot healthier than I deserve to be!
I also learned that my high blood pressure and borderline-high cholesterol have returned to normal , thanks to all the extra doggie walking I've done since Bear came to live with us, bless his lifesaving hyper-energy
When the news is baddish, take steps--get moving, one way or another . When the news is good, take more steps, because you can.
My Mom spent the last 20 years in a recliner too, and refused physiotherapy because 'it hurt'. She lived a long time, but in very poor health, and in a miserable mood.
Dilu,
That a girl !! Half the battle is being up !!! And yes I would study before going under the knife, for sure !!!! I will lift you in prayer. Get the Golly G up and dance the happy dance !! GOD is sending healing to you today !!!!

Hugs Jane.
Yes we have to stick together! and in my case, some good drugs for things that truely are a pain in the neck( went to work monday with no way to move my head) and a sense of humor wont hurt either!
I guess that's why I like the Gollys so much Dilu. They would never let the truth get in the way of a good story!
Good for you Dilu, KEEP MOVING! I agree, I also always want to know everything that I can about any surgery, procedure or drug that is recommended. I have a lot of faith in doctors but they can't possibly know everything about everything. Big hugs to you   hurting is NO fun at all!
Thank you dearly for the prayers! I love prayers.
when New Age type people tell me that there really isn't a God, I say even if there wasn't a God i would still pray....because words have power and thoughts have power. The energy we put out into the universe is the energy we get back.
But I love prayers, because I do believe that God hears women pray especially.
special goodgollythanks for the prayers

In your quest, don't overlook the power of massage I think you'll find that unless you have massaged, you will have tight spots in your hips and also along the shin bones and into your ankles from your knee surgery. Massage has been around for thousands of years, and nothing seems to heal faster than 'touch'
