Thanks Becky! I stopped worrying long ago about what is or isn't art. You can argue that topic until you're blue in the face, but then you'll never get any art done. ;)

Brian and I are back with another collaboration. This time we decided to try a version of the March Hare, with his friend the Dormouse. It was such fun! He stands about 15" tall and is for sale on Etsy. Wool with a little bit of raffia for the straw on his head. :)
Wow! He's marvelous! And I am so impressed that this is your first needle felted figure!!!
Amy
Thanks everyone! You guys are the best.
This is something I completed a few years back but never put up for sale. I figured it was finally time to let it go, so here it is. :)
Needle felted from wool over a wire armature, measures 14" front to back and 16" to the top of the pole. The pole and base are wood and epoxy clay, pained with acrylic.

In the great north woods, there's a moose for every pond. If you look a little closer, you might see the elusive Sea Moose as it munches in the shallows on tasty bog plants. Though this may sound like an exciting life, some Sea Moose aspire to greater adventures.
The Sea Moose is a collaborative work, created by myself and fellow artist, Brian East. It is a one-of-a-kind figure needle felted solidly from wool and strung for hanging. It measures 9" from top to bottom. Brian and I moved to NH last year, so we're in moose country now and just had to add our little spin on all the local moose art. :)
The Sea Moose is for sale in my Etsy shop right now, check it out: http://www.etsy.com/listing/69757401/ne … -sea-moose

This bunny was trying to help with the Easter eggs when he slipped and fell right into the dye! And then he fell into another color. And another color! He was somewhat dismayed at the mess he'd made of his snowy white fur, but we tried to reassure him that he's now very festive. :)

Yes, it's me again, exposing you all to my weirdness. ;)
I've revisited the Santa Cthulhu theme again this year, since it's been so much fun in previous years. This year, Mrs. Cthulhu appears along with Santa, to double the Christmas spirit. ;)

Santa sits about 10.5" tall and Mrs. Cthulhu stands about 9.5" tall. She has some wire armature in her legs, but otherwise it's all needle felted entirely from wool.

Oops I think that was my fault, I didn't have it right. Is there a thumbnail now?
Amy
Well, it's me again with something a little bit weird. Okay, extra weird. But hey, I can't make cute things ALL the time! Halloween calls for something a little different. ;)

Some bunnies hop merrily through gardens looking for carrots, but undead bunnies shuffle aimlessly about in search of ... BRAINS! And you thought regular rabbits multiplied quickly - just wait until your neighborhood is overrun by zombie bunnies.

That is so sweet, it just about made me cry because my Grandmother is suffering from Alzheimers and it's very tough sometimes. Thanks for posting that. :)

Your Dad is so sweet! I like the coloring book idea. Or even some crayons and a drawing pad, if he likes to color without any lines! Last time I was in the hospital, I had an origami book and I sat and did origami for hours on end. But that might be a little advanced for a 4-year-old. Good luck, I hope you find something he likes, and I hope your Dad is doing okay ...

I've used armatures in just a few of my needle felted beasties, and I usually only place the wire inside parts that need it for either support of posing. For example, I made a carousel horse and felt the legs needs the support so I gave them wire armatures, but the rest of the body was fine with just firmly felted wool. Another example was a small dragon I made where I wanted the tail to be pose-able, so I gave it a wire armature, too. I usually wrap my wire with thin strips of craft felt, to give the wool something to grip. I do have to be careful about how I felt over the wire, because I've broken more than my share of needles. But then I tend to be clumsy and break needles ANYWAY, so maybe it's just me.
I love all the tips and advice in this thread, and the needle felted noses are all awesome. I can see I've got a lot left to learn. :)

I've seen felted soaps before but never tried them, or tried to make them. Yours are adorable, Roxanne. And yours, Charlotte!
