I only got to watch some of the auction, but it was interesting. I would loved to have some of those (well, actually, any) bears, esp. the 1912 Titanic black bear. Some things went for lower and some went for higher than I thought.
I read an article where someone bought a couple of them to store and resell later. I thought it was sad that they wouldn't be loved.
Someone asked me on either I Love Teddies or Teddy-Bears.org. I know Daphne asked this, but it was in 2006 (I thought it was last year; just shows how time flies). I know there are new members since then and some artists switch between doing and not doing custom work. It would be good info to have in case someone asks me again.
Cooper is so cute! I'm glad he's doing well. He's lucky to have you as his mom because I know he's well loved.
When my mom first got one of her rescued cocker spaniels, it took a long time for the female to be comfortable. She used to sleep with one eye open. After a lot of patience and love (this was almost 9 years ago), she is happy and comfy. Our rescued cocker took a little while to feel comfy too.
congrats, Sophie!
I haven't been around, but I'm sorry you've been sick and I hope you continue to feel better.
what a great story! I agree that you should write a children's book. If you do, please sign me up for one to read to my little boys.
I also have a few Molly bears from Steiff and Bumpkin Bears.
It must be so hard. You should be proud of him. Like someone else said, that's what moms are supposed to do. My boys are 2 years old and 6 months and I'm sure it will be hard when they move away one day.
Cooper is cute! I'm so glad you got a rescue dog. Cooper is lucky because he will be so loved and well-taken care of. My mom had a male and female rescued cocker spaniel and they were so cute together. They did everything together and loved each other.
what a wonderful trip and pics, Maria!
Bear hunting makes me sick. They're talking about it in Florida now. There has been so much development and now there are more bear sightings. But that's what happens when they overdevelop and move into the bear's territory.
If anyone is interested, you can comment on the draft bear management plan:
Thanks for the report, Maria. How sad to hear of another show having problems.
Looks like it was a great show! Thanks for the pics. I wish I was there.
I'm so glad he's doing well after his surgery. How scary to have surgery when he's so little. I've never heard of pyloric stenosis.
I'm so sorry, Lenora. I really hope your son recovers quickly. He'll be in my thoughts and prayers.
congrats on becoming an aunt, Tami! So cute! great name too.
you take great pics, Peter! You have a great looking hug.
I finally read the Feb/March issue and just wanted to say you did a nice job, Dawn!
so cute! Wadsworth is cute too! How many pets do you have (because you said one of the Bouviers)?
I'm sorry I haven't been around; I miss TT. I read the posts to keep up with everyone but just don't respond. I had my 2nd son, William Daniel, on March 4 at 9:50 am. He was 8 lbs 5 oz and 20" long. He was almost a pound and a half bigger than my 1st. We are all doing well, just tired with a capital T. I won't post pics on here, but if you want to see pics, I can email them to you.
My older son, Scott, is going to be 2 next week. I can't believe it. He is young so he doesn't understand about his brother, but we're trying to keep him involved and teach him to be gentle. I'm an only child so I'm still getting used to dividing my attention between 2 kids. I was worried about loving someone else as much as Scott but that went out the window as soon as I saw William.
congrats, Ann-Marie!
congrats, Marilyn! He looks so huggable!
Happy Thanksgiving!
I collect manufactured and artist bears. I have everything from Steiff to artist to Gund to unknown bears, and I love them all.
As others have said, not all Steiffs are expensive. My husband and I own Sunny Bears (www.sunny-bears.com), and we even have some Steiff mini mohair bears under $50. We also offer layaway plans.
Alvin is handsome, and I like his outside pics!
what a cute girl! I'm sure you'll enjoy your trip next May.
