Thanks for sharing that website. After spending time looking at her fabulous designs, one can only come to the conclusion that Shirley Clarkson was some kind of bear designing genius. All her instincts were fantastic and there isn't a mediocre Paddy in the bunch. The paw impressions on the sit down Paddington were particularly inspired. I had a good laugh at the Rugby Paddington with 80's style sweatband (or is it fur-band in this case?). I can't imagine a teddy bear playing Rugby. I would assume a teddy bear's strength in Rugby would be its devastating cuteness.
Thank you for sharing! Your collection is filled with personality and soul and is a wonderful source of a bear education for any aspiring bear collector. I love the Rose repair on the foot of your bear Victoria Rose! Proof that some of our best creative ideas come from necessity. I'm usually more of a traditionalist but your blue & violet bears are amazing! I love all of them but the Kate Berlin and Barron bears were some of my favorites.
Thanks for turning me on to these bears! You are right they have a lot of character! The Eden bears are very disappointing compared to the Gabrielle designs. Be curious to know how their feet changed from model to model. Thx.
No cardboard in the feet EJ! It's a crunchy sounding kind of stuffing not soft.
Teddy looks like a Chiltern but I'm not an expert. Very cute.
Bear is 14" from head to toe and about 9 1/2 inches sitting up.
Hope you found it by now..but these Uneeda bears seem to fit the description. They made several models

No tag but one could have been on him at one point. As you can see, he has had a rich well-loved life! I will post measurements in August when I visit.
SueAnn- This teddy was given to my Mom's older sister in the the late 1930's*.My Mom was born in 1942 but her sister is 8 years older than her. I will be able to measure the teddy when I go visit again in the beginning of August. It's a medium sized teddy not bigger than 24". My Mom has no idea of the origin of her teddy. I know her father's mother was English. Her parents had a fondness for English and European things so my research has been pointed in that direction as well as the US. The nose may be waxed and not some kind of Bakelite as I previously wrote.
I so appreciate all the kind words about this teddy. I've always loved him.
*I think this teddy was made during 1930s when popularity of the panda style of teddy bear was at its height.
This is my Mom's teddy. The eyes fell out and she drew them in at summer camp. Jointed arms and legs and a bakelite type plastic nose. Have not seen one like it in my research. Any ideas?
Adorable! Would love to know the maker too! Please keep us posted!
Thanks Edmond! They are very good company and have excellent manners!
Thanks EJ! They are very sweet well made bears. Looks like a lot of work went into these guys!
I have seen some of their brothers and sisters out there in google land. Made me curious as to who she was and how long she made bears.
I just adopted these two teddies made by Dottie Wroten. If anyone has any of their brothers or sisters I would love to see pictures. Also would love to know more info about Dottie Wroten the bear maker. The little bear has suede paws but the Mama bear has paws made of some kind of dyed silk?
