Why not give The Teddy Patch a try? No listing fees and no hassel.
Why not try The Teddy Patch and get away from the hassel and the high fees?
Does anyone have an idea what these types of stick bears are worth? I have one I'd like to sell. thanks.
I have a large piece remaining from a black antique curly lamb coat. It was a full coat, I have only made one bear from it - in very good condition. I also have a lovely Vintage Champagne Mink collar - which is absolutely beautiful but the lining has been removed measures 44 inches long and 8 inches. Also have some vintage sable mink and lots of nice racoon pieces. Everything except the curly lamb is listed at The Teddy Patch, www.theteddypatch.com. Check them out - I can send you measurements on the lamb if you're interested just let me know.
I tried to do some bears out of real fur, but it just wasn't my medium. For those of you who like to work with Mink, I have some very nice pieces of Mink for sale that I'll never use. I also have some other nice pieces of real fur for really cheap prices. You should check them out at The Teddy Patch!
I've been making bears and other critters since 1995. For the first few years I made a lot more than I do now. I've kept a detailed record of every bear made and who adopted it over the years. My total of 302 includes teddy bears, dogs and kitties with an occasional squirrel and moose for good measure!
Congrationations Laraine - and to all the deserving winners and nominees! Way to go!
Did you hear that Charlotte Deadman of "Bear-Faced-Lies" also won a TOBY Industry's Choice for her little "My Cherie Amour" miniature bear? She is the most darling little bear wearing an exquisitely embroidered, hand-stitched Swiss cotton dress. In case she isn't part of this group to announce it herself - I'll do it for her! And what's really cool is Charlotte has chosen to place her fabulour little bear at auction and on display at The Teddy Patch! I can personally vouch for the quality of her incredible miniatures since I own her little OXO bear - he is one of my most prized little treasures! Check out Charlotte's beautiful little bear at The Teddy Patch before she's gone to the highest bidder.
Her auction can be found at this link: http://www.theteddypatch.com/Miniature, … categories
The Teddy Patch also did an Artist Spotlight on Charlotte which can be viewed at this link: http://www.theteddypatch.com/featuredartist.html

Oh, this is embarrassing but here goes. My first bear was created over 12 years ago and he was so ugly I didn't keep a photo - or the bear. This is a photo of my second bear - getting better but still a long way to go.
I love all the Christmas avatars - they're wonderful! Definitely not too early! It will be over before you know it. Guess I better get busy and get one done so I can keep up with all of you.
Good question ... I think it depends on lots of factors. One's mood often makes a difference too. Oh, and don't forget the mood of the bear too! Every once in awhile (I'm sure everyone has experienced this) you'll come across a bear that just won't cooperate! He just wants to be who he wants to be no matter how you insist otherwise. In those cases, it will take forever unless you just let him have his way! Once you give in, he'll be finished in no time! On average, in answer to your question, it takes me between 15-20 hours start to finish for an average sized (10-12 inch) bear.
I'd like to suggest a class on how to do great open mouths!

I do my dog ears the same way that Cheryl does. It works really great and the wire allows you to bend the ear alittle to get the look you're going for too.
