Skwish-and-Skweek-1.JPGSkwish-and-Skweek-3.JPGI finished my friends challenge piece - a mini elephant and teeny little white mouse. Meet Skwish and Skweek! Elephant is 4.5" tall and the mouse is 1". There is a magnet in the elephant's trunk and top of his head and corresponding one inside the mouse so that the mouse can pose on either trunk or head and the two friends can stay inseperable!

Oh Ellen, I can't tell you how happy I am to  have read your message! It totally reinforces what I have always felt. I posted a topic about this years ago on another site and got TOTALLY  shot down for it. I always meant to try to find out from painting artists if they priced their work by the size of the canvas or by the finished results and just never had the opportunity. I am SO glad to hear that someone else thinks the same as me - 2 similar size bears are NOT created equal even if made by the same artist! Sometimes there is just a little extra magic that happens and sometimes even if the bear is techinically executed perfectly that little spark of appeal is just not there and those bears SHOULD not command the same price! I know appeal is an individual thing and not every bear will appeal to everyone but I still think there are some that seem to turn out extra special - and often without a lot of extra work and time involved, they just seem to happen, whereas others are a real struggle and still don't seem to totally reach that extra level - it is just the way of art!

Wow, those are fabulous, Kelly! That is so neat the way you do the pie crusts - just one big circle and then folded in for the top - very clever!

Congratulations, Yvonne! Great bear and great photo!

Wow, Claudia! you did a great job, they are wonderful and so tiny - I didn't realize they were that small looking at the picture!

Debbie, I can never find the number anywhere on ebay but when Off The Paw mentioned calling them I thought that was the way to go and then I remembered that Cyndee had put the number on a post in a previous discussion about calling ebay so searched and found it. Here it is for you - 1-800-701-3229. I didn't have to wait to talk to someone and the lady I got was so polite, sympathetic, and helpful - not at all what I had come to expect from ebay!! I'd definitely do that instead of emailing them in future!

edie

I took your advice Off The Paw and phoned the ebay help line. You are right they are much more helpful than emailing so I have sent in the cancellation of the transaction and gotten my refund on final value fees. Now I just need to resell the bear.  bear_sad

It's an auction that's ended, Melanie Jayne, so not cancelling a bid but cancelling the transaction. I looked around in the Help section and it doesn't look like there is a place for a bidder to cancel a transaction, only a seller, otherwise I would have asked her to initiate it.

edie

Just when things have been going so well, I have a (new) buyer who wants to cancel her ebay transaction. I have never had this happen before. She emailed asking me to cancel it by "mutual agreement". I have no idea how to do this - when I checked on the ebay resolution center it sounds like if I cancel it it will look like I am the one backing out of the transaction - which sure doesn't make me happy! I do want to make sure I get my final value fees back but I don't think there is any way to get the listing fees back - I gather you can relist for free (but I don't think that includes the photo charges) and it is only free if it sells the second time.
Needless to say I am rather bummed out about this. I have emailed ebay's help center and hopefully they will be able to tell me what to do.

Thanks so much for your comments, Melisa, Elaine, Kim, Cheryl, and Olga! Much appreciated!

Thank you so much everyone for all the encouraging comments! I am so pleased that this set has a bit already!
