Hi all, thanks for all the advice , Cooper is doing better everyday, he did have a messed up tummy, the vet said to feed him chicken and rice for a few days, and he is loving it. He does love to eat, he has not had anymore accidents  bear_thumb  and he has started his daily walks with Miss Tiff. he really loves walking on the leash. I bought him a coat today since he had to be shaved. He does not look like the same dog with all the fur gone bless his heart but I know he feels better. He will look like a [INVALID] Schnauzer before ya know it  bear_wub  bear_wub  bear_wub  bear_wub  He and Tiff are getting along better every day, he started to show some interest in toys today and that excited Tiff....Tiff has TONS of toys to share.......

Well little Cooper got groomed yesterday, his mats were worse than we thought, Tiffs groomer said it would be easier on him to just shave him and let him start over........ I could not believe all the matted hair, I know he feels really good, but kinda sad because his hair is gone  bear_cry  She said Schnauzers grow pretty fast, and I know he will be a [INVALID] boy in no time. He slept in my arms last night, Tiff slept close to Daddy, course she always does that because she is a daddys girl....Cooper likes Tiff more than she likes him......he will sit next to her and Tiff will move............I know it will take time for the family to become normal again and Cooper to know this is his 4 ever home.............He is happy for most of the time and then the other he seems to just pace the floor and go from door to door almost like he is trying to escape...............He has not had a number 1 accident but did have a #2 on the tile floor, I told him NO and took him out to the back yard and said potty here..............gezzzz it has been 8 yrs since I tried to potty train and that was with a puppy.....anyone has some advice with an adult rescue dog that still seems to be lost and unsure of his surroundings ....... bear_cry

Have you looked in to having Cooper's teeth cleaned by someone who doesn't use anesthesia? There is a wonderful fellow who comes to the shop where I work once a month to do teeth cleaning. He has a vet with him who checks the dog first to be sure it can be done without anesthesia. It is much cheaper than having to put them under anesthesia as well as safer.  Plus all the customers have been pleased--never heard one complaint. I am sure there are other poeple who do this as well. Just thought you might want to consider it.

Hi Beth, yes I thought about it, but took Cooper to my vet the other day for blood work and a check up, she said his little teeth are pretty bad, not terrible but she thought better to put him to sleep, she said that way if they come across a really bad tooth they could just pull it....poor sweety, I'll be glad when all of this is over  bear_cry
My vet told me ....she saw a rescue the other day the gums were so bad, you pressed above the tooth and green stuff comes out... bear_cry  bear_cry  bear_cry
I wish owners would take care of their teeth, Tiffani is 8 yrs old and her teeth and gums are beautiful, I brush them everyday. And Cooper will have his done the same way after the cleaning bear_original
