Ok- I tried something different, leaving the background and just doing the layering. Still very basic, but does this look better?
I will keep working at it, I will try and read up on it, I don't want to drive yuo crazy with it....
ok, well I went back and tried again, and got this far. I was able to extract, and resize, but do not know how to go any farther. Sooo, now what do I do for a background? Help!?!?! Your instructions make more sense than the help section on there.... Is it supposed to look so weird along the edges, or will that go away when you do the background?? Can you tell I am a blonde????
Thanks Shelli, for your help, see what you started? hehe
Susan
I think I am doing everything backwards. I decided to try and extract like you said above, I traced around it then highlighted, but when I clicked ok, the background showed up and the bear had the checkered area. I didn't want to background. Grrrr, I think I am dyslexic (sp) or something. I do know how to resize normally, but do not know how to in photoshop. I am looking... I am used to using my very simple photo editor that came with my camera, it does very basic stuff. But I really want to learn how to do this......
it is not letting me upload the "edited" picture, now i am really aggravated. I think I need a break, I will try again in a little while. I think I am photgraphically challenged. GRRRR
Susan
Ok, I decided to try this photoshop thing with my newest bear. Shelli, I sure don't know how you do it. Everything i have done so far, I have done by accident. I downloaded a trial version of Adobe photoshop. What photoshop do you use? can you get a book? I feel soooo stupid!
Anyway, here is a before and after pic, just the basics, and all of that was totally by accident. I am obviously not very bright, feeling pretty stupid right now....
I am glad Kim is swapping with Julia. And I am glad to see people wanting to sign up for the next swap!!!

Susan
Hi Julia,
If everything goes well with this swap (I hope it does), I am sure we will be doing other swaps. I will make sure to add you to the list of intersted people.
Ann, some have wanted to do their bears for Christmas time, while others have not. Your deadline is up to you and Sophie to decide, and we all want pics posted of your swap bears!!
Susan
wow, I hope I haven't hurt anyone's feelings. It was just something I was thinking about from both a collector and artist point of view. I put prices only on the bears for sale. Once they have been adopted, I don't think it is anyone's business.
Umm, I guess you can decide that with your partner. I guess it will all depend on whether everyones partner wants to take a picture of it before they send and wait to post it after their partner receives it, or just take a picture of your bear when you receive it. Whatever works, as long as WE GET TO SEE A PIC!! :)
Sophie, I emailed you back, we are trying to get all the details worked out..... again sorry about the confusion!
Susan
The only shows that I have done so far have been juried shows. I thought all of them were? Anyway, I like the idea same as Jared said, that they won't let just anyone in there. I have been in craft shows with my Mom that were not juried, and they had all kind of stuff in there, junk, store bought stuff, etc etc. So honestly, I think it is a good idea. I think it (hopefully) will make anyone that wanted to be in put their best foot forward and make the best impression they can. And I think it helps to have a show with more variety, and have artist tables set up away from other artists that might have similar work. Hope that made sense.....
Bear hugs,
Susan
Hi ladies, thanks for all your insights on this. You seem to feel the way I do. And no Shelli, I didn't mean you  You sell mainly on ebay, and I would go there. I am talking about the ones that sell strictly from their website. I am like Dilu, I usually have a certain amount to spend, and want to know up front. And like Kim said, which hopefully it isn't true, but do some people place prices on their bears based on someones interest?
I feel better now, knowing that I am not alone thinking that way....
Susan
I have a question, and maybe it has been brought up here before, but I did not find it....
Artists- How many of you do not post your prices on your website? How many do? And what are your reasons?
Collectors- If there is are not prices, do you enquire, or go elsewhere?
I am an artist and collector, and have been looking around, getting the urge for another bear to be added to my collection (like I need another one)
And have seen websites with no prices posted for their bears anywhere.
I end up looking elsewhere, but that's just me. I post all my prices on my website, I think that's only fair to collectors.
What are all of your thoughts on this?
Bear hugs,
Susan
I think it would be OK for you to post them here, but make sure your swap buddy gets their bear first. Gotta be a surprise for them!
You are way too fast, Kim  I have to admit though, i am already sewing on Heather's bear! But don't get your hopes up Heather, it will still probably be 2006 before you get it! That's why I am starting now!
Susan
I emailed all 3 of you I think either PM or regular email, but Kim is that your work addy?..... Kim, Marie, and Sophie. Ok, still no word from the other two swappers, sorry about that. So...... There are 3 of you now, who wants to swap with one another? I know that Kim and Marie have already discussed swapping, and I can swap with you too, Sophie, if you would like. I don't mind doing two..
Susan

Hi guys, I did email a couple of the people that have not answered. hopefully I will know something soon. I am really sorry you guys are having to wait, I know you are excited and ready to get started. I will let you guys know as soon as I hear something. Susan
If they don't respond by say... Monday the 8th, we will figure something out. No one will go without a swap partner! I promise! I think a week is long enough to respond considering I think everyone knew the drawing would be November 1st, right?
Sorry I haven't answered earlier, have classes from 8a-8p on Mondays and wednesdays

Susan
