Teddy Talk: Creating, Collecting, Connecting

Hi everyone, 
 
I am so glad to say Peter is doing great! I must say here first I may have put his sister picture up by mistake in my haste when he got sick on the other post. I do apologize. Peter is darker than his sister.   :doh: 
 
Peter is going be an Easter Bunny after all!!!!  :dance:  :dance:  :dance:   
Peter is doing much better. He is eating and drinking .... alot !      As you can see in the pictures - looks at me - then goes for the apple he has tuck under his paws. He is up to four large apples a day, plus lettuce - his rabbit pallets - five carrots. I may have to change his name to "little Piggy Rabbit" rather than Little Peter Rabbit.     
I took some pictures of him tonight to share with all of you who have sent all your love and good wishes. I really feel he is going to be ok, (besides the fact he eats and eats) because when I go in there all he wants to do is eat. He is kinda saying...don't bother me I am eating!    That is really good behavior.  :dance:  :dance:  He looks chubby in the pictures, but truly it is mostly all fur and he is holding a piece of apple. But, he is not falling over anymore and that is great.
His ears are looking better too, not so flat looking, I will say.
 
Now I can answer some questions.   
To the dear hearts who said - Get another vet! I will. My girlfriend works at a different vet and she saids she is really good.   
   
Shantell - dear heart, yes I am an Grandma. I have five grandchildren.   

Crack me up - thank you hon.  I just hope that idea came from my picture and not my typing skills.         
I am 48 dear heart.  You make me guggle "rescuing baby squirrels from the clutches of my outside kitties". My husband would say you are my spirit twin sister. to funny. I have done that with mice.

Kim - you are right about the teeth. I have had to do that from time to time. When the babies come I always keep an eye on their teeth. Willow helps keep them down so that does not happen often.
 
Again, thank you all for allowing me to share this with you - and sharing all your stories with me, it warms my heart. You are all wonderful kind and very caring gals. Big hugs to you all.  :hug:  :hug:  :hug:   
 
I just hope Hollie gets well too! And Helena gets good news on thursday!

For all your support for Peter. And all your kind words. I happy to say he is still with us. It has been long nights and full days caring for him. But worth every minute.

Oh Sandy I am so sorry.      I understand - I just lost a dog that was with me a very long time. My dear friend Bear, he was a black German Shepard and loved by all who knew him. And after doing all we could do. I had to make that choice too.
It was one of the hardest things I have ever hard to do, because I loved him so. My heart goes out to you and your family and bless Magic and all the love she gave you.

My heart feels for you and the fear you feel. As sweet Louise said, "all will be fine, you just wait and see! I feel it in my heart."
It will be ok hon. And goodness girl don't feel embarrassed. We are all friends here and who can we share with if not with our friends. As all the girls have said - we all care. Don't worry dear heart. We all have lives and sometimes we just need to share it - the good and the sad.

Thank you so much for your prayers and best wishes for Peter, and for sharing your heart warming stories. I am touched by them all.  :hug:   

I am happy to say, Peter is still with us.   
Yesterday was another touch and go day. I spent most of the day with him, because he was still falling over and I was worried he was not getting the water he needs. He forgets were it is and I have to remind him were his water is. He is now drinking four onces of pedialyte a day. And last night he started eating the timothy hay I have in his box for him, besides his rabbit food, which he really doesn't want right now. But, eating the timothy hay is a really good sign.  :dance:   
 
I just want to share my thoughts.  This has nothing to do with anyone on TT.
I have had some people I know say, "Don't you think he is suffering?" "Should you not just put he down?" And bless their hearts for having so much compassion. I agree with all of this. But! Being around animals all my life there is one thing I have learnt. There is a time when we are unable to help the ones we love and have to make that awful decision. And then there are times that it is the wrong thing to do.  If I had made the decision to put Peter down. I would have felt like I was given up on him when he was telling me; by wanted to drink - he wanted to fight to live. Do I think he has suffered and is suffering? Of course I do! It breaks my heart to see him like this and to think of the pain he must be enduring.  But, to simple put him down because of it. I don't think that would have been the right thing to do. Only because, from the first day he wanted to drink and clearly wanted to fight to live.
So, was my decision to keep him alive the right decision? I believe it is.

Thank you ladies for allowing me to share this with you. I do believe I did the right thing and will stand by it.  But it so nice to be able to share this with all of you, who I know understands the decision that I was faced with.

I will keep you all posted on Peter and again thank you for all the love you send.

Thank you so much for all your support for Peter. I agree with all you who have said - new vet - don't give up - (I have not given up and won't) Don't let her sit again. I wouldn't! Dear hearts. Believe me, I won't!   Thank you for sharing all your heart felt stories with me.  :hug:  :hug: 
I will continue to give Peter what he needs to survive. Thank you for all your kind support, it means a lot. :hug: I have so much to say to all of you, but I will keep it short for now, so I can care for him. 
   
Update - Peter is hanging in there. He is drinking and is now standing on his own. I still have to remind him every half hour or so were the water is but he still with us. Thank the creator and all good wishes.     
He is truly a fighter. It is still touch and go wether he makes it or not.  But, what a trooper! 
I will keep you updated tomorrow.

I have seen so many animal related stories on here and it just touches our hearts.
I try not to talk about heart related subjects, only because there is so many that need your attention. But, I just had to share this with you all. He is small and some would say he is just not that important to really work that hard to save. But, for me he is!
I regret to say the day after I came home from our trip I found one of my Dwarf rabbits almost dead. What I think happened? and I do say "think" here.  He was unable to get to his water. He is very wick and can hardly hold his head up.
I did have a sitter that I thought new what she was doing. What I mean by that is. ? If a animal looks like it is almost falling over, would that not clue you in? She has sat in the past for us and claims to know about animals. I hate to be so judgmental, but I am really frustrated about this. Could she not see he was in trouble? Forgive me, but I am very upset about this. I am just heart broken. The sad fact about this is, a rabbit can dehydrate is just two to three days. I was gone a week. Lord, how it hurts to know he needed help and I was not there. Deep breath ….. response to - I want to kick someones butt!!

I have been feeding Pedialyte water to him every 20 to 40 minutes trying to keep him alive for the past few days. He is still very weak and being a small animal the vet says he may not make it. I have also been told that it is a lot of trouble for a rabbit. Can you believe that?  I just can’t give up. I see it this way. As long as he is willing to fight and drink and hang in … I can only help him. I just can’t give up on him and just say, “ya… lets put he down, he’s just a rabbit after all.”  As long as he wants to fight I will help him.   

His name is Peter … ya Peter Rabbit. *a little smile* My Granddaughter named him He is the oldest out of four that I have in this small family of Dwarf rabbits.  He is sweet and loves attention.

I will bless him as an Easter Bunny Rabbit if he makes it to then and I ask all the rest of you to wish for the same. That is all I ask.  Thank you.

Ya - boo on the no teddies. But, who knows maybe that will change. If there is anything down there, I couldn't find it. All the information centers for Reno I called knew of no teddy bear attractions.    I Only heard about the Doll and Teddy bear show. Which is nice, but just the wrong time for my trip. 
 

Chrissie  Ya really! It was a pretty scary clown and they usually don't bother me. But, I didn't like the looks of that dude one little bit.

Just got home from Reno .... and I just couldn't wait to see what you all have been up too!!!!! I was unable to get internet down there, cause I have dialup and they did not have that at the hotel we were at, so I could not keep up with everyone. My husband and I left on my birthday morning and we had a very nice drive down. It was a beautiful. It is kinda late here now, so will keep it short.  well I will try.    
 
To the girls who are scared of clowns. You know who you are.    I got one for you. I hope the picture turns out. I don't offer this to scare you.  :hug:  but .... DON'T GO TO RENO! There is the biggest clown you have ever seen. And he does look scarey.     
 
I am sorry to say,    I looked everywhere for anything TEDDY related and came up with nothing. I talked to a lot of people and was told just about the teddy bear show that they have there. It was even hard to find teddy bears in the stores. Can you believe that?   
 
And to all we who gave me advise on being careful about playing my teddy money. 
I didn't loss any. I won some!  :dance:  :dance:  I am not a millionaire, but every little bit helps.    Just call me "Reno Winning Kassie"     

It was a nice trip...but it is so nice to be home.     And I can hardly wait to catch up with you all.  :hug:  :hug:

Well, I am going say goodnight for now and get some sleep, very long drive. I will catch up with everything you have all been up to tomorrow morning over coffee.
