For artists and collectors sponsored by Intercal...your mohair supplier and Johnna's Mohair Store
I did set it up fast but I'm one of those people that if I didn't do it right now, I never would! It's just a start, we'll all see where it goes.
I've been a member of other boards that swap collectible pins and I thought it wouldn't be too hard to set one of those up and luckily I found that simple free one (even though it has ads everywhere!)
*UPDATE*
I set up a little something in the way of a trading board (for bear stuff).
I just found this free board site and set something up. I don't have a clue what I'm doing as I've never put up a board before, but maybe this will be a start.
Not sure where to go from here...so please any comments and suggestions would be great! Also if anyone here has experience working with boards I will happily give you admin or mod abilities seeing as I don't know what's what
Here is the updated board: http://44.freebb.com/tbss/tbss.html
Sorry TT and intercal - I didn't mean to step on anyones toes (or paws)
hope it works
PS - Please sign up again as the other board is now defunct (D, D, K, and W)
I've been off the boards for so long I didn't read that, sorry for double posting!
It's the right idea to host the little swap board somewhere else, like livejournal (there are tons of swapping pages there for everything you can imagine!), especially since TT is hosted by Intercal.
I know some sell their mohair scraps on ebay and with their fees, and paypal double dipping, a free swap board would be fantastic! I can look into some options.
I've always thought we should set up a mohair exchange/trade board. Im sure some people have mohair they've used for a bear, but have a lot left over and don't want to work with it again right away. This way it wouldn't go to waste or sit in a pile for years unused.
What do you all think?
I have a huge collecting personality. I feel sorry for my husband since our condo is filled with boxes of my stuff. He isn't a collector so much, but he has joined my in a collecting few ventures.
Here are some of my collections:
Harry Potter cards (the one with costume or prop bits in them)
Everything Alice in Wonderland since I was 4 years old.
Christmas decorations as mementos when we go on vacation.
Canadian raver/urban streetwear clothing. I love the design of the clothing, very functional, asymetrical, great materials. Since the whole rave thing died out, so did the fashion so I watch ebay like a hawk for my favorite designers. My husband has 8 pairs of pants, all the same style. Some are begining to wear out, so we'll eventually have to take them to a taylor and see if they can replicate then. I don't really touch my clothes, to my it's a collection. Weird huh?!
We've collected disney pins from all our vacations.
MAC cosmetics. I have a huge collection of colours I don't use. I'm like a crow with pretty shiney things; take it home, put it in my nest and stare at it.
My main love I'd have to say is The Last Unicorn cels. We only have one, but one day we hope to have more. They are so expensive I need to save up for them when ever one pops up for sale. The movie is so special to me I love owning a little piece of it.
I think I need to par down my my collections after seeing everything I've typed! Yikes!
~ I just stared to knit (I love it!)
~I also needle felt (thanks to everyone here I'm hooked and so is my husband!)
~I used to be a dancer, and fumble around my house to get exercise (rolled my ankle last week - note to self: don't put on pointe shoes again until I build my ankle strength)
~Cooking and baking (I used to stink at cooking, but I've been on a learning curve and now I'm quite proud of myself with my progress)
~I collect Harry Potter cards (nerdy, I know, but they are sooo cool! Some cards have pieces of costumes or props from the movies!)
Here is my most recent bear. A little goofy and whimsical, he likes to lean back and watch the clouds go by.
He isnt quite done yet, but I thought it was about time I put up one of my guys. I've enjoyed viewing everyones creations so much.
My first order took over a month to get to me, and my emails went unanswered. I didn't think I'd order again, but I had some money burning a hole in my paypal account so I put in an order with SM (those discounts can't be beat!). 10 days and a few unanswered emails later I received an email telling me 5 out of 6 pieces of mohair I ordered were out of stock. What a bummer! So I canceled the order. I can't justify paying all that shipping for a 1/4 of mohair.
I totally agree with Eileen...if it's not in stock please just take it off the site, or put 'sold out' on that mohair's page. It's easy enough to do.
Next time (there probably wont be a next time, but if...) I will email them first to see what is instock...maybe then they'll write back.
Hi guys, it's been a long time since I've been on (I have a panic disorder that kicked my butt for a while)
and I wanted to say hi to everybody again!
I had stopped making bears for a while, but made a zombie bear for my friend over Christmas (he's a horror movie lover) that turned out well which totally gave me inspiration again!
I just wanted to say you're all the best, lovely supportive folks.
When I get enough courage I'll post the bear I'm now working on (he's looking odd though ).
happy to be back
I also put an order through with them. On Oct 22, and mine is still pending too. I called them because I realized that I put down my married name but my maiden name is still on my credit card A woman with an accent took down my info after finding my order in her computer (I'm guessing) but my order is still pending. I'm going to call again tomorrow to make sure everything is alright.
~Whoops! The title should read "I'm IN the new Teddy Bear and Friends"~
Hi guys! I've been off the boards for a little bit. Busy fixing up our new condo, etc... and I haven't been bear making so I haven't felt like I deserve to be on the boards if I'm not creating (Plus knowing me, Teddy Talk will turn into an addiction!)
Anyway, in August I went the the Teddy Bears on Vacation show here in Toronto. TBaF was there handing out free issues and taking photos. They talked to my husband and I for a few minutes and took a few pictures of us that made it into the new Dec. issue! The stuff they said I said makes my sound a little bit moronic, but I think they took little snipits out of our conversation and put them together. Or maybe because I was nervous I said things all silly. I'm so pleased to be in the issue though! The women that were there from TBaF were fantastic.
We are on page 68 if you want to take a peak. They made me pull my hat up because it was shadowing my face. I normally don't wear my hat on top of my head Mat was looking the other way so he's embarassed of his picture
but I think he looks great
I'm so sorry to Rita, you will get through this. I haven't been through anything like this myself, but I have been around happening to loved ones...
Can anyone say mid-life crisis? What a child! He tells everyone else first instead of being a man and telling you his feelings and he cheated??
Pretty soon you'll see the guy in a red sports car and getting blonde tips in his hair (or plugs if he's hairless). Textbook case of a man-child midlife crisis.
Legal advice is a must, and start 'collecting' evidence to help with your case. Call the phone company and tell them your bill never arrived and to resend it...things that can help prove his infidelity.
We're all here for you.
How about 'Green Pasture Bears?'
I know it's July 26th, but I wont have the internet while we move starting in a few days.
One I get moved in and set up I can't wait to get right back in to bear making and chatting
I've had a rough couple weeks, trying to get the condo ready, packing up, getting the contractors organized, and now I got shingles! The pain isn't fun at all. The pain is a 'pain' with all the stuff I'm trying to get done and hubby can't help since his business has gotten really busy (which is great, and he can't paint or pack well anyhow )
Talk you you guys soon!
Congrats! I heard what Frances big wig said. What a jerk!
ps- I love your food! Give me a sticky toffee pudding anytime and some cheddar and I'm pleased as punch!
