yay! that is sooo cool! now i am totally nervous to meet such a superstar at the new england teddy show...
congrats!! that is very cool!
i was so thrilled to see both of you guys on there! the woman running the awards is super sweet, and she has a softies book coming out this fall, which i am happy to say i got to submit a pattern for! best of luck to both of you too!!
aww! what a cute pic!
well, my hands are pretty tired from the daily bear making i have been doing in order to be ready for spring teddy shows. i decided to take a break and build a little website just for my bears! it was a nice break...and i just wanted to share!
let me know if anything looks wonky on your computer...or if i forgot to link anything...thanks!!
wow! whenever i see your creations all i can think is, how does a flat piece of mohair get so beautifully sculpted?? you are amazing!
i agree, you should do what you what the 'voice' says,
and where ever inspiration takes you...
this reminds me of how when i see a piece of mohair i
can almost see the bear that will be born out of it! which
is pretty weird, but hey, my 'voice' is a little weird...
thanks everyone! i am going to make sure my camera is all charged up so i can take tons of pictures!
I've worried this would happen, there are some really gross things they put in dog and cat food. Even the "good stuff". I started awhile back feeding my dogs raw turkey mixed with leftover brown rice, oatmeal, and veggies. They are doing great. I guess I'm a bit obsessive about that, I might as well confess that I also add flaxseed meal and eggs. They are my babies...
i have considered cooking food for my kitty before, but i just lack the time! plus, i like him to eat the hard food since for kitties it helps them have healthier teeth...i think it great that you can take such great care of your pups! they are lucky to have such a loving mom!
yeah, he seems fine in the cat box department. i will call my vet on monday just to be sure...i am glad you linked that list. also, you have a smart puppy!
oo! thanks for that! i do feed him mostly dry food, and maybe once a month give him a can of wet. turns out, my boyfriend bought some cans on sale at petco and they are on the list!! i think we only gave him one can...and that was weeks ago. he seems okay...i am throwing away the rest...
thanks for the link! i am glad i shop at petco & only buy science diet...those poor pet owners...
eep! they are so cute!! good luck at the faire!
i wanted to share the bunnies i just made for nevada city! they are 10" tall, and i hand dyed both pieces of mohair. i know i shouldn't show everything i am bringing to the show, leaving some of it as a surprise, but i am so happy with how they turned out! i just had to share...
what a lucky 'mum'! he is gorgeous!
ha ha! i have a plastic container of 'mistakes' in the basement of my house...
it is so funny you started this thread, because i had been scrolling over people's avatars to see what people look like, and i really do think the personality of the bears/critters match the person underneath! i think we each just put ourselves into the bears when making them, so they have a 'look' that is all their own, and related to the person to made them!
how do you make your bear so so so tiny?! amazing detail! i love it!!
well, of course all the awesome encouragement and help on this site are certainly acts of kindness!
when i was in college i decided for fun to make little pieces of art (collage type items), then wandered the dorms meeting people. i met two really nice girls that were roomates and chose them to be the random recipients of my little artworks. so later when they were gone i left one on their door, and did so for the entire school year. always whenever they weren't there, and i never told them i was the one doing it. years later i told a good friend of mine about what i did that year, and turns out she knew those girls too, and said they loved the random acts of art that happened to their door. she was also amazed to find out it had been me.
i tend to do randomly nice things when i can, and often am met with suspicion in the real world today. like people think i want something in return, and i really don't! but i am happy, since i totally believe that we get what we put out into the world.
i totally know how you feel. i put up my halloween bears last fall, and neither one sold, i was totally bummed, and didn't even attempt to list any holiday bears...i just did my usual other website stuff instead. but i love making the bears, and so now i am doing these bear shows in hopes that i can get back into the swing of things. i also have thought about trying out the bid 4 bears site. it seems awesome, but i haven't had time to...
I do too and I love it!!! I have total control, I link it to ebay and etsy as well as my flickr. I went back and forth about deciding if I should do website or blog. With what I was wanting to do and my budget I chose blogging. I got the first month free and now I pay $8.95 per month. It's a cool world...the blogging. And I must add that the help people at Typepad are fabulous, fast and accurate. It's a SUPER way to network and communicate with your friends and customers.
i added you to my typelist of crafty folks!
i really like typepad too. my friend got one, and i had just been using a livejournal, but the typepad features were so awesome i signed up! i love the typelists, and the tagging too. yay typepad!
mine is a sort of all around blog, but i do tag all the bears so someone who would want to only see the bear entries...does that count?
thanks for all the imput! i am glad i asked, because i had been measuring minus the ears, and wasn't sure if that was right for not either. glad to know my instincts were correct!
well...i have made just regular stuffed animals of both...but nothing fancy....
more just plushie type creations...
okay, this may sound like a dumb question, so please forgive me, but i am still learning....
when it comes to measuring the size of bears, i assumed it was the total length of the bear, from head to feet, but i saw a couple listed that actually measured them seated, so it was from head to bottom. is there is a standard way to measure? just curious, and i do apologize for asking what seems like a really silly question...
