Hey Alexis<
I usually order my joints in sets that already have the disks, washers nuts and bolts so I'm not too sure about the sizes but I can say that I glue all of my washers to each disk and all of the bolts to the 5 disks that are going into the head and legs and arms. This saves an awful lot of figiting and frustration with the screwdriver, then you can place the joint in the arm/leg, stuff it and sew it up then joint it into the body. I also find it easier to get a good clean ladderstitch to close the seam because I can work on the arm or leg without having to manuver the body and other limbs to get at the seam. Does that make any sence at all?  I'm a bit sleepy today.
For the glue I have had great luck with Krazy glue gel, it's in a green tube with a red lid.  I have also tried the new stuff that doesn't bond for 45 seconds, so you don't glue things to yourself but this has never worked well, the bolts always cam loose as I was jointing to the body and I had to un-stuff, joint and re-stuff all over again, and I just hate doing things twice!
Hope this helps a little!

I (like Cheryl)  leave it all to the last minute and let the display create itself..........just like we all know our bears do no matter how hard we fight it! bear_laugh
I always have enough black fabric to cover my table and several additional peices of the same black to cover any boxes  I bring for height.  Then I go to the fabric store and purchase ends of fabric that are usually on sale for a few dollars in a bunch of different colours and drape those peices acordingly across the table and over the boxes depending on the colours of the bears I have.  The black fabric makes the colours pop and the colours make the bears pop!  Not to mention it's easy to pack!

Shane I can't imagine doing 5 shows back to back!  I have a four day art tour over Thanksgiving and then the TBOV show in Toronto in November and that alone has got me praying for some fast hands and major inspiration!
You guys are two brave souls!

Hey Aleta.

You can definately find them with Disco Joints as Jeremy mentioned above and they are a VERY reliable source for teddy supplies, I've been ordering from them for almost 10 years now and they have always been helpful and prompt in shipment.

Cheers!

Hey Nancy,
I know I've been away for a while bear_cry
I mentioned in another thread (can't remember which one bear_wacko ) That I have just finished (well almost) a 2 year University course (distance) to become a registered teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance, so the research and assignments really cut into my teddy stuff, I now have to wait untill Noember to find out if I've passed.
I just did the Teddy Bears on Vacation show in Toronto last weekend and have found my inspiration and creative spirit again!  I've spent most of the last 4 days designing and trying new things for the next two shows I have coming this fall.....it feels so good!
Well that's my story, not nearly as exciting as having the cover of a magazine though!

Big hugs,

AndreaM bear_original

Thanks Jane,

I won't know untill November so hopefully it will be a good birthday present!  At least now that it's complete (mostly) I'll have a bit more time to work on my bears!

Kelly, that sounds like an interesting method, I'm sure they looked fantastic!

Thnaks Shantell,
I will have a bit of time to look through it later this evening,  I did manage to find a good stash yesterday at the $ store again so I stocked up on what I could.
I had a feeling that there was a thread kicking around about wings I vaguely remember it.........I'm glad you posted it thought it will save me hours of frustration looking for it!
I have been away for a while, I just finished a 2 year University course (distance) for my registered Tearchers status withe the Royal Academy of Dance.......now I just have to wait for results!

Hugs,

Hi everyone!

I'm wonering where everyone who has used fairy/butterfly wings finds them?
I have found some in our local $ store that will work for mid to larger sized bears (12" - 24") but where can you find a steady supply of them rather that hoping they'll appear in the seasonal sections next year?
What about smaller sized wings for say an 8" bear?

Does anyone make thier own wings?

Oh yes and I can't forget about feather wings for angels, what about finding those outside of Christmas?

Thanks for your help and advice in advance.

Hugs!
