Brenda
thanks for posting the pics - it completely went out of my head yesterday (poorly cat to worry about)
We lived in France a few years back - a glorious place, just across the border from Geneva, and on the lower slopes of the Jura...anyway - we had pine martens living in our roof.....noisy little devils at times,
but we never had any problems with them.....and we always had cats (and dogs, and a horde of hedgehogs who visited every night for cat and dog-food leftovers!). From what I heard, both in France and here, the biggest problems with pine martens is that they like chewing the wiring in cars (and don't ask me why!). The German equivalent of the Automobile Association actually published a list in order of preference of which cars are most nibbled!!!!
As for the fisher - now that is a complete new one for me.....my turn to go Googling!
Seems like a whole lot of us just LOVe to see other peoples "wild life" - keep it coming!

Hi Michelle..
all I can suggest is cutting out the really fattening stuff, and just eating a little less - that way you train your stomach to be happy with smaller portions...and good luck!!!

Absolutely, Karen - a week ago my husband picked up a "news" story about Knut - apparently Roman Abramovitch, the mega-rich Russian who bought chelsea football cllub was buying Knut from the Berlin Zoo for ten million euros........just before I ground my teeth to pulp, I realised it was April Fools Day!
Incidentally, there are lots mlore pics, and a video of Knut (and boy, is he growing fast!) on  www.spiegel.de
I just wish we lived closer to Berlin - I would love to go and see the little guy!

Sue Ann.....I recently discovered Lindt's 99% (!!!) dark chocolate...now I'm one of those strange people who has no interest in chocolate, but I could easily get addicted to this stuff - you only need the teensiest bit to lift your spirits! bear_rolleyes

p.s. - they also do a sour cherry and chilli, which is rather nice!

Oh I am SO jealous!!! I just love racoons, with their "bandit" masks....they are certainly NOT native here, but some are kept as pets, and I believe there are some escapees now living wild. We have plenty of squirrels around here (red ones), and one of my all-time favourite animals - pine martens...I'll have a look for a pic tomorrow and scan one in.

Yes - I've seen this one before too......and it is so true of our dog....evrything is, at the appropriate moment  her "favourite thing"! And boy, can she get excited - and 55 kilos of excited dog makes for a "stand well clear" moment! bear_wacko

Brilliant!!! But it rather struck a raw nerve - yesterday Jeremy took one of our cats to the vet - and being a holiday it was JUSt the vet, so Jeremy had to hold Titus while he had some injections - result - one badly scratched hand, and a really deep bite in the other hand! Vet had to perform some first aid with mercurochrome and band aids....and now Jeremy and Titus are BOTH on antibiotics!!!
And , of course, we have to get antibiotic tablets into Titus over the next few days...where do you buy heavy-duty welders gloves over a holiday weekend????? bear_rolleyes

Hey bro' - you two must be SO pleased.....and you really deserve it!!! I did comment on another thread - but in case you missed it - humungous congratulations to you both!  Now you can have the fun of seeing your creations on show in all the shops which carry bear mags......a friend here got a front cover on one of the German magazines and every time I saw bear mags on display, I rearranged them so hers was on top....missed out on mine tho - KiXXi was on the front of the TBCI which doesn't appear here.....
c'est la vie!!!

I remember the first time I submitted a pic to the TBCI - nearly had a fit when it became the " bear of the month"!!!
And it is just SO exciting to see your bear in print

That ia just SO cute - and he (she ) does manage to look sorry - all the dogs we ever had were only sorry they had been caught out - they would go and repeat the misdemeanour the minute our backs were turned!

Ellen - I know what you mean - we had a Somali cat, years ago, along with two Irish wolfhounds, and a bloodhound.....
Mogwai (the cat) was convinced he was a wolfie - just down the road from us lived a particularly (and unusually ) aggressive Afghan hound - our postman "hero-worshipped" Mogwai after he saw off the hound who was  actually menacing the postie. Another time we were out walking the dogs, plus cat - he would always accompany us - and someone came up behind us with two Rhodesian Ridgebacks - I believe they were originally used for lion hunting(?) - but Mogwai chased them off!!! I have to add that Mogwai had also learned the Wolfies' gentle behaviour and humour.....I watched once, as a small dog approached him , terribly excited  - "this cat is going to say hello to me"!!!!!  Mogwai waited till the little dog was within reach and then just gave him a tiny tap on the nose and stalked off

Hi Dilu
you are certainly not alone in feeling like that - I think we are all personally our most severe critics. I know I can only see the bits I'm not happy with, and they distort my perception of the bear as a whole.
I can't imagine ever making a bear that I am totally happy with - just as well - because where would you go from there?????

Hey Michelle - your polar bear is stunning!!!
I can't help thinking that a lot of us would like Knut to stay just like he is, so we could take him home...
I'll wrestle you for him Shane!
Seriously tho', all the furore and publicity over Knut seems to be creating a BIG focus on endangered species and global warming, so GOOD!!!!
