AAARRGGHHHHH!!! I can't see it - it won't load
What am i missing huh? huh?
I HATE not knowing what's going on
I shall sulk now
Hi Kim.
I personally just use my fingertip as you don't have to put lots and lots of shoe polish on - if it needs another coat i add more until i get the finish i want. Just let it dry and buff it up between coats.
WINNEY - you are MAD MAD MAD but i love you he he he
I've added a piccy of a bear with a shoe polished nose - His name is Bennett
Penny
Here's a couple of piccies of the polish i use Matilda.
I have never used leather dubbin and would'nt know it if i fell over it ha ha ha -
I generally sew black noses so the black polish does the trick for me, but i know that shoe polish now comes in lots of fancy colours for those of you who have a few pairs of Jimmy Choos
The other colours tend to come in tubes and i have'nt tried them out so i can't vouch for them personally but would imagine that if they do exactly the same as ordinary shoe polish they should be good for noses too.
PenPen
No Anne, the proper stuff in a tin.
I must admit that i LOVE the smell of shoe polish just be careful to keep it off of the surrounding mohair Anne as it's a devil to get off.
Penny
i forgot to say that my great grandpa was a cobbler and we used to have all his tools around the house when i was a kid. Maybe that's why i love the smell of shoe polish and crave new shoes like a maniac!
I have often had spoof mail from both eBay and PayPal - i just send it on the whatever site is relevant and forget about it - i never reply to any email that says my account is gonna be suspended etc etc.
Has ANY company that wants your money and trade closed your account?? Nah i don't think so. Ignore the emails, just pass them on to either eBay or PayPal.
Penny
Yes, it does smell but only when it's applied. After it has dried and buffed it does'nt smell at all.
I must stress that you don't have to whack it on with a trowel, you only need a little bit so the 'pong' is'nt really an issue Daphne.
I never see the point of using specialised stuff when sometimes what you already have around the house does the job better. No doubt someone will prove me wrong here but i have always found it great to use with a super finish.
Penny
What sort of pattern is it Louise - if it's an intarsia pattern i can knit them but i have to admit that they drive me nuts but if you get stuck i'll help you out.
Penny
Gosh he's cuter than a button, intelligent, funny and pretty damn good looking too Eileen. Old George gets better with age - as do we all (okay i'm lying but i live in hope)
Penny :D
ooh i forgot to say - i like George as he's getting older, it means he's slowing down and with a back injury too - i should be able to catch him if he tries to run away
ha ha ha
Hi Pam,
The best thing EVER for noses is shoe polish !!!
It comes in all colours including clear - let it dry completely then buff.
It's permanant and gives a wonderful lustre. I never found beeswax to work as well as shoe polish and it has a tendancy to go white yuk!
Try it out - Welcome to Teddy Talk, hope to talk again soon
Penny
Thanks Eileen
Poor guy ha ha ha ha
But thanks again Eileen for the link, cos i found loads of George Clooney videos which i've downloaded and added to my archive
whoooo hooooo - be still my beating heart
PenPen - your bestest buddy in the whole wide world
Gosh - i did the advanced search and the list came up with 160,000 plus bears worldwide current auctions and ended listings.
Sorry girls but life's too short to trawl through all that lot - if a little feller in China is flogging one of my bears in a copycat auction he's welcome to it, i'm off to watch the telly
I know i'm not being particularly publicly minded here - i truly hope that no one is being ripped off in my name - but i don't care enough to spend HOURS traipsing through all the listings to find out.
Please don't think i'm awful - i'm just a bit of a plank
Penny - aka lazy cow
Oh Sabine what a bummer!!!
But i must ask you something - are you a beautiful blonde Swedish gal ? Cos if you are then i think i could suffer the long dark days if were gorgeous
Penny - short fat and plain old English girl
How can we check if our bears are being hijacked please - i'm nosy and wanna see if someone is doing the dirty with my bears
Penny
HI Anne,
I really feel for you sweetie - don't get too het up about this. I know it will take a while for this to get sorted out cos eBay are sooo slow sometimes, but remember that you have'nt done anything wrong.
Keep an eye on the listing and if anyone bids, contact them yourself and tell them what is going on, maybe that way you can help protect the bidders and yourself.
Let us all know what happens,
Chill baby - obviously you make really good bears or they would'nt have bothered picking your auction to copy - a strange sort of flattery i know but hey! you're a star
Lots of love and kisses
Penny
Oh NOOOOOO not the old clocks going back thingy again already?????
Clare - no it did'nt get light properly today so it's not your eyesight I hate winter with a passion.
If i can swap a bear with someone in sunnier climes and accompany it for the next 5 months i will do all their housework and babysit the kids - so long as there is a beach nearby and at least 12 hours of sunshine a day so i can top up my tan naturally rather than slapping on tanning lotion that makes me look like a can of Tango!
hooo hooo - anyone in Hawaii wnat to swap - i really fancy doing the old Hawaii 5 O thing in a canoe with lots of hunky men
Penny - dusting off me grass skirt as we speak
eBay can be minefield for the unititiated Roxanne - thank heavens your brother had someone to help him out!
So many scams so little protection - sometimes i think eBay should be more particular with their auctions if you could check the guy out why could'nt eBay, they have far more resources than an individual.
Penny
I don't mind posting internationally either - can i swap with someone somewhere exotic - and hand deliver????
oooooh Hawaii sounds nice - Bermuda - Seychelles ?
okay - i'll just put the bear in the post
Penny
Thanks Kim - i understand now.
I can be a bit dense sometimes
Penny
er - yes i think so?
I thought that when you held a private auction you could'nt see who was bidding either, am i wrong?
Penny
Hi Nance,
Do you mean that on a private auction you can see who is bidding on your item by clicking on the bid number or can the seller see who is bidding anyway? Just being nosy
Penny
WOW Irene !!!!!! I love your sewing room.
You are so tidy - i bet you are a perfectionist
I see that you have some of your beautiful dolls on display - my favouirite doll on your website is Coquette, she's very exotic looking.
Penny
I'm keeping everything crossed for Michaela and her family and you too Nancy
Don't get too stressed out and Bless you for making the bear for PRF
Penny
I'm clapping for cookie and brownie week too
wish we had something like that over here Deb - Britain has gone all health conscious at the moment so not much chance of a cookie week here, more likely a seaweed and tofu week - yuk
Penny
yuuuuuuummm - i can almost smell that coffee Daphne, in fact i have just made myself a gorgeous cup of real cappuccino. I love the noise the machine makes as it froths the milk and i like to dip choc chip cookies in it too
No wonder i'm fat!!
Penny
