Have the same problem - haven't solved it yet...............................
Tradition is to be cherished and kept safe so we know where we've come from- if it ain't broke - don't fix it.
BUT - If no-one 'pushed the boundaries' how predictable it would be. Keep pushing Dilu and pop back to tradition when you feel the need. Its the Chinese spinning plate trick, keep them all spinning without the plates toppling off.
Oh my - this sound like a sermon - Here endeth the lesson  (With affection)
Hi Michelle - just wanted to welcome you to TT.
There's so much to learn here - you won't have time to do anything else for WEEKS.
Be sure to check out the 'Library' for tips. Its on the index page with a little wavy hand character beside it. It has its own index and more information than you can try in a lifetime.
Enjoy.....................
May the young couple have calm seas and following winds throughout their life.
Wonderful articles in the Sept issue of TBCI.
I've only quickly glanced through the magazine so if anyone else is in there my apologies - its just these two articles 'hit me in the face' so to speak.
Well done............. Are you taking us all out for chocolate to celebrate?
It would be so sad if they were split up - they deserve to be kept together. Perhaps they'll take alternate holidays in each other's homes so that they can stay together and plot mischief.
Great work as always.
Fantastic pics Paula - You are lucky.
So very sad - my condolences to his friends and his family.
He was very enthusiastic and he got people interested in wildlife - no mean feat in this day and age.
His daughter will come to remember the good times they had on trips together etc, His son sadly didn't have much time to get to know him at all.....................
Isn't it funny how stressed people get when a particular supply is running low.
Its like when you're knitting - your brain tell you you haven't enough yarn left to finish the row - but you start anyway and knit as fast as you can so you can get to the other end before it runs out

Hi There.
There are some BRILLIANT graphic designers on here who can help you with the technical stuff - I'm sure they'll be chipping in here very soon.
Lots of luck - look forward to viewing your results.
Thanks for that :photo:
He's a real looker and a trendy beaded 'necktie' too.
Oh Jenn - I'm sorry you feel ignored. Its just that there's so much information on here now and new people joining and everyone being busy - I'm afraid I'm guilty of limited posting. I tend to PM people - particularly if its personal - then they can control if and/or when to reply. Sometimes points made in a very long thread can be overlooked. If you look at the threads I've started - they haven't generated the interest that many others have. I figured I was just boring. I tend not to jump into the technical threads because I feel it presumptive on my part - There are many others on TT with superior skills and experience so I read, mark, learn and inwardly digest. The bottom line is I'm shy- Please don't feel ignored - that's awful.

Catherine - have you tried contacting your local museum - they should have textile conservation department.
The following organisations are well known for their expertise.

I do silk embroidery work which will hopefully be heirlooms of the future. I always roll (not fold) silk in layers of acid free tissue paper and keep it away from strong sunlight.
Do not use plastic/polythene bags - the fabric sweats and is then susceptible to mould and rotting.
Hope this helps a little.
