Danni - I love your bear.  The pearls are the perfect accessory.

sandi

Louise, I'm so glad you are back and feeling better.

Yes that is the way kitties are.  That is why I love them so much.
I don't let Lily help me with the bill paying every since I sent the car payment to the phone company.

Jenny,
She is beautiful.  I love those eyes.  What a sweet face.

lily-2.JPGThis is a photo of my helper relaxing after the photo shoot.  The back drop is folded up to the top of the light tent and Lily is lying on the top like it is a hammock.
How can I go wrong when my little shadow is paying so much attention to the project?  She also helps me when I cut out the bears.

Jenny thanks for reminding me about Shelli's article.  I found it and printed it out.  I'm finding it most helpful.   I purchased a tripod today.  I'm going to do a lot  of experimenting.  I would much rather being bear making than fooling around with this but I know I gotta lick this thing if I ever hope to post pictures of my bears for sale.

Thanks Sandi

Congratulations - I can't wait to see the photo.

I got some BB's from Walmart last week and was expecting to find them locked up.  They weren't.  There was a whole section of  them out with the rest of the sporting goods.   I just picked up what I wanted right off the shelf.   It is a good thing I didn't need help because the entire staff in that section was gathered around a talking, singing deer head giving that their full attention.

Thanks for all your suggestions.  After turning the house upside down I was able to find the manual.  I can turn off the flash, adjust the white light balance and a whole lot more.   Right now I don't even know what white light balance is - just that it is important.  I know how important it is to take a good picture so I'm going to experiment and hopefully improve.

EdwardandLily.JPGautumn2.JPGEdward2.JPGMy photography stinks !!  I built a light tent.  My dining room looks like the "Great White Way" I have so many lights  set up.   I changed my background a couple of times thinking it was too dark.
I don't have a tripod yet so I set up something to rest on when I take the picture so I don't shake but I still come up with this.

I can't seem to prevent the flash on the camera from going off and it doesn't seem to have a lot of settings I can manipulate.  It is my husband's camera and he of course can not find the manual that goes with it.  Any one got any tips for me?

I even have a helper as you can see by my third photo.

Garnet - I was very sad to hear about Louise.  I hope she feels better soon.  We will miss her here.

Good luck.  I hope you have a speedy recovery.  It is always so nice when these things are over with.

I tried to use cording for the eye rims and could not get the cording to stick to the eye.  However, I did successfully glue the cording to my fingers. I haven't tried it since.

Shelli - congratulations.   From the first time I saw Chauncey I knew he would be the winner.
How did he get his name?

I'm taking Nancy's Extreme Sculpting course right now too.  I am really enjoying it.  Her courses and advice have done wonders for my bear making.   They are definitely worth every penny and then some.

Nancy Tillberg has a great suggestion for avoiding bulk on the edge of the ears.  In her book "101 Bears to Make " she says to cut out the ear in one piece. mark the fold line, fold in half and sew the curved edges.  Then slit along the fold line to turn the ears.   I tried it and it worked great.

Shelli, thanks for the tip on tacking the ears.  I always have had trouble with ears too.  I have been trying to sew them on by just pinning them in place.  Tacking them makes a lot more sense.

My bear making has improved so much since I joined this forum thanks to you wonderful, talented ladies.

Your bears are precious.  I love Katy.  The jointed wrists are very unique.

I was thinking of makin a bear with magnets in the paws and was wondering how it was done.  If they are put right next to the paw pad do they show through?

Sandi

sandi

Millie,
I love your panda.  The color combination is great and so unique.
