Yes, I can see the baby. What a wonderful picture.
Wow!!!!! Your entry is absolutely great!
I can hardly believe that someone is able to make something so beautiful!
I haven't seen the other entries, but you would certainly deserve an award for this!
Congratulations to all the nominees, your creations are really outstanding! And good luck for the rest of the competition!
Congratulations to you all for making such beautiful bears!!!!
They are absolutely outstanding!!! Not nominated but great!
Don't be to sad and try again next year or another competition, a different jury might judge differently.
The best example is my "Wilbaerle": I had already entered him in the EURO-Teddy last year in October where he was NOT nominated and now he received an Industry's Choice Award!
It seems so, I just got the same email.
But anyway, it's the official list, my name and bears are on it and so I'm still dancing!
I didn't have any phonecalls or emails from TBF either, so I was sure I had no nominations, then I came here into the forum to see who actually was nominated aand found my name on the list. not only once, but twice!
Most probably you've heard me shouting even in the US.
And here are the pictures of my nominees, who were, by the way, inspired by my two favourite models George Clooney and Wilbaer, the little polar bear in Stuttgart.
Congratulations!
I'm sooo happy for you, you really, really deserved to win!!!!
He is just great!
I have to agree with the other, his wrinkels ARE adorable- and his face as well.
Thank you all sooo much for your nice words, I'm sooo glad you like him!
I just tried to find something on Google, but there was noting about a law, just that "speichelfest" means you can't lick off the paint So, if you are a paint-eating-junkie you bought the wrong beeds
And yes, I will be exhibiting at Blummel's. But I'm not sure if I will bring my snow leopard, as I booked only half a table (1m) and Charikar is bigger than that! Not to forget, that I don't want to sell him.
Ahm, well, I' been using wooden beeds for years for several purposes and that "speichelfest" has always been on the label, but I don't know why?
I just finished Charikar, my first snow leopard. He is not as naturalistic as I wanted him, but I like him anyway.
He is made from a very soft faux fur from Schulte, the spots are painted with copic markers, he has handpainted German glass-eyes and needle-felted pawpads and nose.
Charikar measures 48cm/19inches from head to paw and is 66cm/26inches long plus 48cm/19inches tail.
A few years ago, I spent some time in the Gobi desert in Mongolia and there I had the chance to collect some hair from the very, very rare gobi bear. The first time, I just picked it from a tree where one of the bears used to scratch its back, the second time we found the remains of a dead bear, unfortunately ( there are only abozt 20 bears left): a lot of hair, some bones and a claw.
The hair is light brown, very long (nearly 4 inches) and not soft at all.
I just scanned some of the hair, plus pictures of our guide, the ranger of that area with bones of a dead gobi bear and a real, stuffed goib bear in the natural historrical museum of Ulan Bator, the capital of Mongolia.
Happy New Year to all of you!
Great!!!!! Thank you very much for extending the deadline!
I just wanted to submit my entries for the Golden Teddy Awards, but now I will wait as I'm just working on a piece that might be nice, too.
Brenda, Ines, thank you , I'm glad you like them!
Womderful, Congratulations, Tami!
It's so wonderful to see that you are still creating your bears - exspecially when they are as beuatiful as Yukiko.
I love the expression of his eyes.
Thank you all for your nice words, I'm glad you like Winnetou and Iltschi.
Wow, that's great!
Today I would like to introduce you to one of the most popular characters in German literature:
Winnetou, the famous and brave chief of the Apaches, created by Karl May in the late 19th century.
Mr. May wrote several books about Winnetou, in one of them it says: "The native americans believe that in each grizzly-bear there lives the soul of a big warrior".
And then I just couldn't resist : A (almost) naturalistic grizzly dressed like Winnetou in the movies from the 1960s, which are still very popular here in Germany, together with Winnetous famous horse Iltschi.
Winnetou stands 33cm/13,2 inches from head to toe, he is made from wonderful synthetic fur, his costume is suédine embroidered with more than 11,000 small (1mm) Japanes seed beeds. And.... he is the biggest bear I've made in years.
Iltschi is the first horse I've ever made, he stands 39cm/15,6inches from head to hoof, he is made from hand-died viskose and completely armatured.
And if you should wonder about Winnetous missing feather: He never wears one, neither in the books nor in the movies because, according to the author, his charisma in so strong that he is being recognized as a big chief even without wearing a feather.
This might not be very realistic, but I like the message behind this which says: It's not the feathers (clothes, car, handbag etc.) that counts but the person.
So, my Winnetou doesn't have a feather either.
Congratulations! I'm so happy for you, you really deserved the award for such a beautifful work!
Penny and Berta, congratulations!
Your entries are just amazing and I wish you all the best for the rest of the competition!
