I just found a link to a site with a video on how to use a drop spindle.

Lynette,
I have a spinning wheel & drop spindles & have spun rovings into yarn many times. I have also seen where some use the thin "Pencil Roving" without spinning it & just knit with it that way for wet felting projects like you mentioned.
If I can find it, I have a picture of a purse I made from wool roving I spun & knitted & wet felted, Then decorated with needle felted flowers.
Hope this helps. It is a lot of fun to do!

Jenn,
First off Happy upcoming 3rd Anniversary. I can hardly remember that far back..lol been married since May 1969!!! And you know...I didn't drive either back in those days...and I remember trying to come up with creative romantic ways to get a special gift for my hubby & ways to present them so he was totally blown away for our anniversaries. Perhaps if you are fixing a celebration dinner at home, you could have some finger food...with various little bowls of condiments...and the pocket watch could be in a special little bowl in the middle of the tray...and of course don't forget candle lights and romantic music.
Just my silly suggestion...

The lady I used to work for who does beaded suede & leather clothing used cornstarch for cleaning spots on the suede...but she did have a professional dry cleaner who did major cleaning of stuff too. Guess it depends on how dirty it is.
Sorry I can't help more.

I have read and read trying to figure this out, it's probably just the forest for the trees syndrome, but I can't understand why fluffing wool before felting would make it compact better. To me, it seems the more compact to start with, the closer you are to the final result. I have seen tuts where they suggest rolling something into a tight ball and then start the felting.
I know that Bobbie has explained this before & I cannot for the life of me find what she said about it right now. But I just know what a major difference it makes for me, if I card my wool before needle felting it..I know also that I used to roll things into a tight ball to start...and then I ran into the Dreaded "Tennis Ball" Effect....and that's how I first heard from Bobbie...she explained it so perfectly way back when I started needle felting...lol 2 years ago almost.

Lisa, I didn't meet the witch but I passed by a shop that said Salem's only local witch...that must have been her. Next time I'll go in.
Charlotte, thanks so much for the sightseeing suggestions! It all sounds wonderful to me! There's so much to do here...I'm kinda overwhelmed!
-Eliza :D
Eliza, I think that shop belongs to one of Laurie Cabots daughters...and near halloween...there can be lines blocks long, waiting to get in there. I am not sure if Laurie still is one of the judges for the childrens halloween costume contest...but she was the year we were there...talk about come very very creative costumes...there was a little boy who had a hand made dragon costume that was incredible!!! We also ran into Laurie Cabot in Boston at the Nutcracker Ballet...she is an unforgettable character...and travels with a whole entourage...
And you are most welcome...There are sooo many things to do & see in your new area...I just gave you some of my favorites:)
