My surgery is Tuesday,Feb.21 which is also my birthday but since it's considered " urgent" ,I had no choice bear_sad   I'm planning for a complete recovery by the end of March and as long as there are no nasty reports from the tests they sent away , I'll be back to better than normal in no time!!

Okay everyone!  Pay attention here!!  We have a TT'er, Shari, going in for "urgent" surgery.  This is not a little thing.  This is a big thing.  AND, it's being done on Shari's birthday for heavens sakes.  Let's all send positive thoughts not just today but everyday she's away from us.....and beyond!

Warmest bear hugs,

Hi Shari,
Actually, he is in his crib as of a few minutes ago, but is rocking it across the floor as we speak.  I am really wonderinf if he may be reacting to certain foods or colouring.  We try to keep what he eats as natural as we can, but today he was soooooo over the top.  I tried a warm bath and lots of lavender and camomile lotion, but it's obviously not working LOL!  Anyway, I will thinking of you on Tuesday and sending warm, healing thoughts your way.  I guess the sooner you get it over, the sooner you will be on you feet.  Take care and soak up all the pampering you can get.

                                                   Hugs,

                                                    Brenda

OOOWWWWWWW!!! Big get well hugs for you Shari. I hope everything goes well. Now who on earth scheduled surgery on your birthday!
I at least waited three days after my birthday. As for after take it easy and let your husband pamper you, oh yes chocies are on the take home prescription and cake and cuddles and ice cream and mohair and ultrasuede and a huge big shopping spree at Intercal. All these things should have you feeling 110% very soon.

Big hugs Jane

Thanks Jane,I know you had surgery not long ago so I'll follow your advice.
I actually didn't have a choice of dates as my birthday was the first available emergency date.  bear_cry

Kim,I din't get my test results back yet ,I'm just hoping for nothing bad to show up. I'll let you know when I hear but it may not be until the day of the surgery   bear_sad

On a cynical note... Don't you just "love" how hospitals consider "emergency surgery" to be a procedure they schedule, like, three weeks from now.

How is that an "emergency?"

Yes, how wonderful to have the computer handy, Shari.  My best vibes are heading your way for Tuesday and an early Happy Birthday wish for you . . . a totally benign report!!

Your right Shelli but the scary alternative to the "urgent" surgery that was set for a week and a half from the specialist appointment was a wait of at least three months while this thing continues to grow inside me. bear_sad

Thanks Sue Ann,I made my birthday wish for a benign report but I won't know until I wake up again on Tuesday afternoon.

Thanks for all the well wishes. I'll let you all know how it went as soon as I can.

 Tomorrow's the big day, darling, and you will be a newer better happier model then the you are today....it will be fine....  bear_innocent

POST SURGERY:

drink lots of water (lots and lots) to help flush the anesthetics out of your system

don't be afraid to take your pain medications!!!!!

Walk- not far not long, but walk every day....and the next day walk a wee bit farther....You may not beable to go out due to weather, so walk around the house....

no vacuuming-really, none! bad! no no  bear_angry  stay away from that appliance!

no lifting laundry baskets....no lifting bags of grocerys probably for several weeks to a month- maybe longer......its OK

No hauling rocks and digging ditches! I'm serious here.....

Everyone heals at their own pace from this....so don't beat yourself up because YOU think you should be back to normal and your body doesn't......Your body gets to win this one!  bear_ermm

As you do start healing you will have good days and bad days.....then you will start noticing that you have 2 good days to 1 bad day....then three etc.....This is the way it is supposed to be....don't beat yourself up because you want all good days all the time.  it isn't going to happen, but if you know ahead of time that this is normal maybe you can be more accepting  bear_tongue

When you have a bad day- it is your bodies way of saying sit, take it easy, read a book, sleep whatever...rest and yes maybe even have yourself a really good pity party..... bear_cry
its probably just hormones and it is normal and don't beat yourself up about it.  Let happen what happens and when its over eat something yummy and go on with life!  bear_laugh

It takes the human body a year to completely heal from surgery like this  bear_rolleyes ....that's OK....After the first 3 months you probably wont notice, except that at times you are more tired than you think you should be.....its OK

Are you seeing a pattern here?  Be good to yourself and don't beat yourself up just because your body has its own time schedule...Your recuperation will go more smoothly if you can let go of your preconceptions of healing time....Its OK it is really OK and its a damn site better than the alternative!  Right?  bear_grin

Know that we care about you and are hoping for the very best for you..... bear_flower

Oh Shari, I'll be thinking about you and praying for you  tomorrow.  I'm sure everything will go well though.  Try not to worry, just make sure everyone takes care of you after.  Have a happy birthday inspite of the surgery-you can always celebrate another day.

Are you having the surgery in Halifax ? How long is your hospital stay ?
