Well, here he is, bear no.2, with only three weeks to go. This is 'Marmite', he's a 16" bear, made from a very short pile (4mm) mohair. This is the shortest pile mohair I have ever worked with. Not sure that I enjoyed it - I'm looking forward to getting back to playing with some longer pile fabrics next week.
Marmite is dark brown, so was a little 'so and so' to photograph! :photo:
I love him. I like working with longer pile as well but he has such a beautiful head and face.

Oh, he is really cute, Paula! See, I told you you were speedy! I love the way the short pile has made his shape really stand out. I am working with some vintage short-pile upholstery mohair, and I have had a tough time with it...I don't know if that's due to it being short and dense or because it has a thick backing--it's not our nice mohair backing from our mohair mills! I love Marmite's vest, too. You had time to knit it?? Gosh, I wish I knew how to knit. One more thing to put on my list, I guess...
Can't wait to see more of these guys!
He is adorable Paula, the short mohair works for him and gives him a very distinctive look
Hugs,
Krista
Verrrrryyy cute!! I love his blue eyes and what a great nose.
       .........you just amaze me Paula....Love his waistcoat !!!
Hugs,
Yvonne.
Wow Paula I can't believe how fast you make these beautiful bears...he's lovely, the shorter mohair makes a nice change I think!!
I'm glad you all like him! I really didn't enjoy working with such short pile fabric, but I like the way it really shows off his contours. Maybe next time I'll try something a little longer pile, but not too much. Something at least long enough to scissor sculpt effectively!
Wonderful Paula
Paula, I love him - I think that short pile mohair suits him SO well! And the waistcoat you've knitted him is wonderful!
Paula I really love what you have done with this bear! The short pile shows his shape so beautifully! Short or long...your bears are still my favourite!!
 A very nice bear with a very cute face. I also love his knitted vest.
Paula I like this look..it's really different but suits your work...
Everything crossed for Ally Pally!!!
Marmite is fantastic ! I really love the short pile mohair on your bear !
This bear is all boy. Love the fur you used! Great job!!!
It's very reassurring to read everyone's comments! Thank you! I think he looks a bit of a 'bruiser' personally, definitely all boy! I'm not really that fast .... a bear like this takes me about 10/12 hours, without the knitting. Fortunately the waistcoat knits up in an evening, while I watch TV! I was hoping to get three bears completed last week, but in the end only managed two. So must work even harder this week!!
The dark fabric make his eyes look delicious. Pop him on some toast and I'll gobble him all up
Paula, I'm loving your Ally Pally bears. Really cute ones!

Another lovely bear, Paula! I love all of yours. This short fur really shows off his great shape!
Thank you all for taking a peek ... I wasn't sure about this one, but I guess he's growing on me!! Can't wait to play with some lovely dense long pile though ... getting withdrawal symptoms!!
<snort> MARMITE!! <snort> LOVE the bear and his name!!! Can't say that I would enjoy him with butter on toast, but he's a great looking lad!
