Well there's been a lot of chit chat lately about "Prim" bears and also about aging bears to make them look "time worn." Why don't we have a challenge for just that to create a vintage time worn bear. So this challenge you could make either a Prim bear or one that looks as if he's really been loved over the years.
What do you think?
I like it! Do you have a set date Lisa or just an open ended challenge?
Sounds like fun!
Cheryl :rose:
I am so IN!!! sounds Great, time to experiment. I really need something to keep my mind busy right now.
This is a style I absolutely love but just can't "do"...... but if any of you need someone to give your challenge creations a new home you just let me know!
Everyone seems so busy with shows right now, how about we just say add them to the Challenge Gallery by the New Year? I don't know, what do you guys think?
Daphne, you're sweet. I know you have it in you!!! You're very talented!

Oh Gail, I can see why he won, he is fantastic!!!!!!
I have just about finnished my first ever 'time worn' bear, but I am afraid I wasn't half as game as you were.
I've been wanting to do a prim bear ever since I saw Clare's prims
and seeing we don't have to have them finished till the new year
... COUNT ME IN TOO!
All right I finished my little wee prim bear and hope to have pictures to post tonight. Even my husband said she is adorable!!
Ha nowyou all have to wait for The pictures cause I am at work
I used a piece of vintage lace trim for her head bow, two tiny raggedy patches and a few ash made stains with an embroidered and heavily waxed nose.
I created an entirely new design for this bear including a new centerseam head design incorporating a tiny wobble joint in her neck to make her aged prim look more authentic. she is also loosely stuffed to give her that well loved look and feel.
she is a whopping 3.75 inches tall standing and She does stand well on her own.
OH Gail I can certainly see why you won first prize with Mitchom he is adorable
Kathy How cute is she I love her to bits. and so small
I absolutely adore Prim the grubbier the better, we dont see much of it here in the UK I have tried to do some myself Gingers and grubby fruit etc etc but just cant do prim Bears no matter how hard I try.
My understanding of "prim" is that the word is a shortened version of "primitive" which is a a very simple or "flat" (two dimensional) artistic style. Sometimes it can be interchanged with "folk art". Anybody else with a different interpretation of prim?
Is this challenge still going on? It's until the new year, correct. I am new here and posted my intro after lurking for awhile and would love to make something for this.
SueAnn is spot on, yes Prim is short for Primitive. I just love prim and folk art, and the dirtier and grubbier the better!! Try to imagine yourself living years ago during simpler times making toys and treasures with no patterns from whatever materials you can find. Enjoy!!
