Well there's been a lot of chit chat lately about "Prim" bears and also about aging bears to make them look "time worn."  Why don't we have a challenge for just that to create a vintage time worn bear.  So this challenge you could make either a Prim bear or one that looks as if he's really been loved over the years.

What do you think?

I like it! Do you have a set date Lisa or just an open ended challenge?
Sounds like fun!

Everyone seems so busy with shows right now, how about we just say add them to the Challenge Gallery by the New Year?  I don't know, what do you guys think?

vintagegirl2.JPGvintagefirl4.JPGAll right I finished my little wee prim bear and hope to have pictures to post tonight. Even my husband said she is adorable!!
Ha nowyou all have to wait for The pictures cause I am at work
I used a piece of vintage lace trim for her head bow, two tiny raggedy patches and a few ash made stains with an embroidered and heavily waxed nose.

I created an entirely new design for this bear including a new centerseam head design incorporating a tiny wobble joint in her neck to make her aged prim look more authentic. she is also loosely stuffed to give her that well loved look and feel.
she is a whopping 3.75 inches tall standing and She does stand well on her own.

My understanding of "prim" is that the word is a shortened version of "primitive" which is a a very simple or "flat" (two dimensional) artistic style.  Sometimes it can be interchanged with "folk art".  Anybody else with a different interpretation of prim?

Is this challenge still going on? It's until the new year, correct. I am new here and posted my intro after lurking for awhile and would love to make something for this.

SueAnn is spot on, yes Prim is short for Primitive.   I just love prim and folk art, and the dirtier and grubbier the better!!  Try to imagine yourself living years ago during simpler times making toys and treasures with no patterns from whatever materials you can find.  Enjoy!!   bear_original
