Lanie, your Polar-Pip is a real cutie, sorry to hear about your poor fingers and the broken needles.
Unfortunately you cannot look away when your felting, and maybe watch you finger placement on the felting needle you may be putting too much pressure on the needles themselves.

Keep up the good work and enjoy, you have done real well for a first bear.

Great little guy, Lanie!

Be sure you are using the right size needle for the job... if you feel resistance, like you are stabbing a rubber ball, then you need to move to a smaller needle. Be sure you are poking straight up and down and not bending the needle as you go in. Once you get the hang of it... which, by the looks of Panda-Pip, you already have... you'll break far fewer needles. I haven't broken a needle in months and they do last forever!!

He's just adorable and I can't wait to see more of your needle felted work!

Congratulations!
Daphne

Thanks for all your messages.

IVE GOT A FACE FULL OF SMILES...

My fingers are all healed now.  bear_grin

All the advice here is well worth taking note of.

Because Pip is only 1 1/2 "

I found it a struggle to hold onto his tiny pieces, so i found using a long doll needle to help pin him down as i worked helped.

RENAE... I STILL THINK IT WAS LUCK HE TURNED OUT THE WAY HE DID bear_whistle

DAPHNE... BRILLIANT ADVICE  bear_original

I FOUND I REALLY LIKED THE FINER NEEDLES BEST...
HOWEVER I ENDED UP WITH ONLY A THIRTY EIGHT STAR... THEN I SLIPPED AND IT BROKE bear_grin

I NOW ORDER THEM IN BATCHES OF TEN....

IM SO CLUMSY....AND EASILY DISTRACTED BY ANIMALS AND SMALL CHILDREN... bear_grin
