For artists and collectors sponsored by Intercal...your mohair supplier and Johnna's Mohair Store
I haven't posted much in the last two days...
I just bought a new Palm Z22 organizer...
I needed something that I could put more information into then my day planner.
This thing is so cool... I can put pictures of my bears, bunnies, and most importantly my niece in it.
I changed my avatar...
This is a picture of my 4~5X great-grandmother Calferna Gilbert.
I would like to have that little teddy bear.
My BIL bought that CD, as he is a fan of Werid Al, and lent me that CD and I just laughed the whole time I listened to that song. Too Funny!

Yes I am an eBay junkie too!
Well first things first...
Jane, didn't your mother ever teach you about putting your finger into things?
And second someone needs to write the lryics for a teddy bear version.
Some soft... new mohair
A new... design there!
That's all... that I need
To make my teddy bear
My work... room is a big mess
no space to sit down
On Any Day
I must make teddies
Well there you go... it's a start
When I first started looking at computers I was going to get a MAC. But they are more money for the similar features. Plus I needed it more for business functions. What little designing I do comes second.
Maybe someday when I make my fourtune I will have both.
My cousin uses MACs and I use PCs, I was visitng with him about a year ago and my aunt was surprized that we weren't arguing, PCs vs. MACs. I have used both and I like both. The only MACs that I used that I didn't like were the PowerPCs. And then they introduced some funky looking round shaped think with an even stranger mouse... Those I just didn't get.
I would like to have a MAC just to mess around with. Sigh.
I use what is called a t-bar and a ratchet wrench.
The t-bar holds the bolt in place and the ratchet tigthens the lock nut.
I post pics somtime this tomorrow, after I get home from work.
Or mabye I can find pics on the web.
CD/DVDs might get brittle over time...
I don't think I would recommend them
Those huge washers are called Fender Washers. Mom and I use them to joint our bear and like plushkinbear said they add a bit of weight.
You can get them with smaller center holes. Go buy these at the local hardware store you can just buy what you'll need and they will be cheaper than the Big Chain Stores. Then you will find that you love them and will want them by the 1000s and then you can order them from the local hardware store and put money back into your local economy.
I don't know what you use or have on hand. But I use #8 washers, #8 Bolts, #8 locknuts, & then whichever size Fender washer I need and like Shelli said some times you need to add extra washers to get the hole size down. I can get the Fender washers 3/4", 7/8", 1", 1 1/4", 1 1/2", and 2" sizes and they cover most sizes that I make. Take one of your bolts with you to the store that way you will know for sure which center hole size to get without having to use another washer.
--OR--
You could put a bigger disc in the body and the smaller disc in the leg. I know it is not perfect but I have done this to get by in a pinch.
I'm with Shelli.
I think I will dig out my mom's old flat bear pattern and start making that then I won't have to worry about which types of joints to use.
Shantell,
That would be too much work and you would need to much stuff on hand. LOL
No no no...
I did mine in Publisher.

I was kinda stunned when I looked at him when he was done. I thought about keeping him for myself and writting them a check instead.
SMASHING!
What a great Look.
For years I have been playing around with a design for a more realistic bunny. I have part of the pattern and I did make up a prototype of the head. One day I will finish him. But he will need to be made out of a plush or a really dense mohair. I think that plush would work better.
I don't know Daphne. I know if you ask Dale he can tell you. He is the Hardware expert.

I like the Alien song too.
Yeah I have seen this clip before and it is too funny! My fav is the guy just sitting at the computer in the background.
Thanks for sharing Roxanne.
You gals crack me UP.
I have mousey brown hair now, when I was younger it was more blonde.
In College I used the Loreal Bleaching Kits that sell for $10.00 and boy was it blonde. I thought it looked cool. I don't have any pictures other wise I would share. Maybe some time in the future when I drop 100 lbs I'll try it again. Mom just rolled her eyes.
I had my hair stripped out in High School and it turned out quite red. That looked good too.
Somebody is out there selling things that they don't have a clue about.
Yeah but I still like the idea of a for Dummies book...
I use to use glued joints. I used an epoxy and that took forever to dry. Just way too much time.
I like the set screws the best.
Dilu - don't let him fly the kite in bad weather. I would hate to see him with shinged fur.
Microsoft Word, MS Word, or Word all refer to the same program.
Microsfot Publisher, Ms Publisher, and Publisher all refer to the same program.
Both are different programs.

Aleta... You are too funny... a wrestling match with teddy... and did you expect anything else of course the bear wins.
Shelli - I used sew on plastic eyes and the biggest I had at the time were 15mm, I would have liked to have used something in the 20mm+ range.

Thanks everyone I will pass on your complements.
I kept my seam allowance to 1/4" to 1/2" like normal. Yes you will need to made adjustments. Most likely you will need to lengthen the body.
I forgot to do that with Orson, but he turned out OK. But If I were to make one in the future I would make the body taller. Your head, ears, arms, & legs tend to stay in proportion, but the body doesn't. Atleast that is what I found.
Anyone else care to chip in?

I have gotten some great ideas from the board that I am waiting to try I just need to get the time to do it all.
Here's a more current picture of MaeLynn. It was taken in April 05.
Now she has more hair and it is longer. She went from being an infant to a little girl in one step. She was never a toddler.
Just so you all know and no it does not upset me...
MaeLynn is spelleed M-a-e-L-y-n-n. The L is captialized. It was my sister's idea. I just shook my head. OH well.
Her full name is MaeLynn Jane Ross.
Jessie Mae is her paternal grandmother.
Jessie Lynn is her mother. (side note: it is Jessie, not Jessica, never has been never will be. We still have some people that insist that her name is Jessica. I jut laugh.)
Jane is her maternal grandmother.
So she is named for both grandmothers and her mother.
My sister was named after our paternal grandmother.
Mom asked my sister if she would continue the family tradition of naming the first-born daughter after the paternal grandmother.
Jessie's repsonse was "Mother... that would be too many Jessies in one family."
I thought who cares.
