I agree with all of the above, but i must add that this was the funniest thing i have read in a long time--I was laughing out loud!!   (At work, that can be a problem..) But all very important stuff, too. I am off for my first colonoscopy this summer so I appreciate the info! Ginny

Hi Daphne!! I too had that experience and my computer guy was able to put almost everything on a few CDs for us which we could then download onto our new computer. By the way, my new computer automatically creates a backup file. I guess it can be accessed even if the computer dies. Peace of mind! Something you may want to look in to if you are going to get a new one.

    I guess many of us have our minds in the same place!! Yes, a mini poodle and a full size lab would have a bit of an issue! The breeders use artificial insemination these days--they have been having all kinds of "fun" putting dogs of the two breeds together to see what they can get. Sometimes it is a pretty result (like my Mattie! bear_wub ) and sometimes...well, there are some pretty strange-looking labradoodles out there.
Thanks for looking at my pictures! Ginny

Here is my new baby--my 11 month old MINI-labradoodle- named Mattie! (short for Matilda)She is the sweetest and smartest pup we have ever had. Can you see those blonde streaks in her red hair?  She looks like she spent the day at the hairdressers.
If you are wondering--her dad is a red minipoodle and her mom is a full sized red labrador retriever. The Red color in labs is more like a dark yellow lab. This little beauty will be having pups too when she is old enough--we are hoping for more reds! Mattie weighs 32 pounds, so she really is a small size--like a cocker spaniel, but a bit taller.

Hi everyone! Happy new year!  It seems my vacations are the only times I get to check out the website! Never enough time!
I was reading the latest issue of Yankee magazine yesterday. If anyone is interested,  they have some adorable photos of newborn triplet black bear cubs that were being examined in the wild by some environmental conservation officers--very cute and good "models" for a realistic stuffed bear. Their mom had been tranquilized for tagging and the cubs were  climbing all over the men and cuddling with them. What fun that must have been.

   bear_wub  bear_wub Love those!! Especially the frogs--I'm a frog fanatic! Thanks for the laugh! Ginny

bear_wub  bear_wub I'm in love!! I've always had a soft spot for terriers anyway--so far i've had a Bedlington, a Lakeland and now a Wheaten...your little guys are really adorable!! ginny

  Funny--but too true! Only not in the way you are thinking! My hubby is quite the "expert" cook and he would actually say all those things if I ever dared to cook anything in his presence! I stay out of the kitchen unless he is not at home! Makes me too nervous to have him looking over my shoulder! So, this joke struck a different chord with me!! Still funny, though! Ginny

She'll be back in a week. I will make this suggestion to her. Thanks so much. Ginny

ginny

I agree Gijzette- thanks so much for the reassurance. Ginny

Thanks again to all of you--several of my students have kittens that will be up for adoption in a few weeks...if we got one and raised it ouselves to be an indoor cat that may work out better. I think that it may be easier to keep a cat indoors if they have never been outdoors. What do you think? The cat that died had been rescued by a shelter from living on the streets, so when we got her she had definitely been used to going out and was quite a hunter.  Amy plans to move to New York City soon and the other cat might have been miserable there. Hopefully a kitten would be more adaptable. I was going to surprise her with one, but my son suggests I let her decide on one. I'll listen to him. Ginny

  It isn't easy to put yourself first, but it sounds like this is the time to do that. As everyone has been saying--take care of YOU. If he needs to move on, that is so, so sad but it is his loss and you need to do whatever is necessary to come out of this in a better place. We are all behind you, Jodi! Take care. Ginny

bear_wub Thanks to everyone for their kinds words and support. This website is really about more than just  teddy bears--it is away to meet and communicate with very nice people!  It really helped to hear from all of you. Ginny

You are right- I can't get this off my mind, primarily because I can't tell EITHER of my daughters--they are travelling together! I feel lost because I do not have them to talk to and there is no closure until I see them again on June 15th. Amy is so sensitive and emotional--she wouldn't handle it well, especially away from home. Her sister, Jen is a real animal lover- she enters Cornell vet school next month. (Daphne's question about what did you want to be when you grew up reminded me of jen- who studied Art history in college and returned to school to fulfill her childhood dream of becomeing a vet! ) I think I will e-mail her just before the trip ends and ask her to break it to her sister gently so that Amy knows before she returns home. What a mess! Ginny

bear_sad Sorry to "vent" my troubles, but I am so upset about an event that took place last night and maybe it will help to share. My 23 year old daughter, Amy, is taking a trip to Europe and left me in charge of her young cat, named Marta, who is about 2 years old. She adopted Marta in November and the cat is such a cutie that we all fell in love with her. Problem is--she loves the outdoors and manages to get out whenever possible. She has even hidden between the dog's legs when I opened the door to walk him! I should be putting all this in the past tense, because she got out last night and was killed by a car right in front of our house. It is so ironic--we live on a quiet street and have had many outdoor cats, ours and strays, in our yard for years without any being hit by cars. There is a large back yard and woods that Marta usually goes to--why she was in the road we will never know. It was such a shock to see her lyiong there when she had been alive and well just a few minutes before.
I have decided to let my daughter finish her trip and not tell her the sad news until she is almost home in 10 days. I don't want to ruin it for her. And today is her birthday, too. So sad. I hope she will forgive me for not keeping Marta safe. I feel so guilty, but I guess that Marta was bound to have an unhappy ending. She was fearless.
Thanks for "listening"...Ginny

A friend of mine is a local environmentalist and an expert on West Nile Virus. He does a radio show and has been telling people about the lead poisoning--so I know that it is for real! Be careful! Ginny

ginny

Glad to hear they have stopped Daphne--I was having fun reading all these suggestions--but which side is the WRONG side of the glass??? That sounds like a joke to me! Ginny

ginny

I have made several really cute dogs and no one was interested in buying them...but several people who saw them asked me if I could make a copy of their dog from photos (a different breed than the ones I made). The  breeds all look so different that I can understand their preference for something similar to their dog. On the other hand, you can rarely buy a "mutt"-type dog, so maybe someone with a mutt would appreciate your handsome mixed breed! Ginny

ginny

This isn't my pet--but she is in the family! This is a cool picture of my daughter Jen's sheep "Spunky"--My daughter is 25 and is headed to Cornell vet school in the fall where she will train to be a large animal vet. She has been living on managing this sheep farm for a few years now. Spunky was bottle-raised and Jen plans to take her and a few others to Ithaca with her.  We also think that Spunky, now 2, may be pregnant. Does that make me a Grandmother?? Spunkfinal.jpg

  Funny!! I got a good laugh out of that--especially since I just spent Easter Morning giving my Wheaten terrier a bath--it is just about the same as that video! Ginny

I collect cards by molly brett--she has some really cute teddy ones- they were popular in the 60's and I usually find them on e-bayfrom sellers in the UK . Check them out if you are interested. Just do a search for Molly Brett postcards. Racey Helps in another great one. All kinds of cute animals, fairies, etc, in both kinds. I take sets of three with a similar theme and put them together in a frame. They look great and make nice gifts for a baby's room. ! Ginny

 Wow- that is really pretty! I love the moon and sun- very expressive!! I'm an animal lover and I think I couldn't resist adding a bird in the sky or a squirrel on the tree trunk--it looks so inviting! Have fun with it! Ginny

ginny

 way to go!! Ginny

Thought I'd get in on this conversation --I have a Bearded dragon- she is great! Very tame and calm. I feed her crickets which I buy from a pet store- 6 or 7 dozen every few weeks. The only greens she will eat are dandelion leaves which i pick out in the yard when the weather allows. We just got a foot of snow, so it will be a while.I will try curly kale and see if she eats it.
I'm also a BIG fan of frogs...my nickname was "froggie" as a kid because I always had a pet frog somewhere. I now have a green car with a license plate "Froggie"....have fun with the lettle frongs! They are cute! Ginny

ginny

Thanks! Will do- and I'll be sure to use cold water dye. This webiste is a real life-linefor Teddy bear makers! Ginny
