Hi Alison, thank you and your husband for taking these piccies.  It is so nice to see some bears from across the pond.  Just wished that some of the business names was clearer on the table - Alison do you know the name or business name of the blond lady wearing a white shirt she has a red and yellow panda high up on her table and a two toned blue lion?

Ali, that is Diana Watts of DiBears!

I had a great time ... always a lot of fun and memorable times in Clarion!

Thanks for the pictures, Alison. There are tables that you have a picture of that I didn't get and I thought I got to take a picture of them all! I missed about 4 signatures too in my newsletter of the artists/vendors. Just not enough time but it was fun to chat a little with each one. Except for one artist, everyone was so open to have their picture and signing his/her picture in my newsletter.

Your husband done good. I always saw him everywhere helping out. BTW you and hubby won door prizes at the closing ceremonies but you had already taken off. Glad to see you're home safely.

Sorry about taking this picture with your eyes closed. Didn't want to keep you as it was closing time.

How did he ever do "the lean".

Lee Ann

I was wondering that myself..here's what I found on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smooth_Criminal:

Anti-gravity lean

"Smooth Criminal" music video. Shows an anti-gravity lean performed by Jackson.

An image of U.S. Patent No. 5,255,452 filed by Jackson describing the anti-gravity lean.
The effect in the video when Jackson and the dancers lean forward a seemingly impossible distance was achieved using special harnesses with wires and magnets. It was desired to replicate this effect for Jackson's stage show, but it would have been more obvious and cumbersome to use wire harnesses in a live performance. Jackson and his team devised an alternative way to achieve the effect on stage. The props needed for their technique were patented in the United States by Jackson in 1993,[6] and consist of pegs that rise from the stage at the appropriate moment, and special shoes with ankle supports and cutouts in the heels which can slide over the pegs and be thereby attached to the stage temporarily. These allow the performers to lean without needing to keep their centers of gravity directly over their feet.

The manoeuvre was copied by the dance group "Diversity" in the third series of Britain's Got Talent[citation needed].

I went in 2005 as a collector and back then I paid $150 to register ($45 extra for the Boyds portion) which covered food during my stay and classes/seminars. If you promised to buy 2 bears you got to stay with a host family for free. You were expected to give a super nice gift to your host family. My bear buddies and I had a terrific time! Looking forward to going again next year.

I may be in the minority and time will tell if I'll keep being opted in but I actually don't mind it. One day last week on My Yahoo! page I saw an ad for 25% off any item to use towards a website I just visited (okay "shopped") the day before. I thought what the heck! Coincidence? Now I know it isn't. In these tough economic times I want my money to go far so yeah for the coupon. At least you are seeing ads for things that you may be interested in.

Hi, Sonya! I will be there with a bunch of my bear fanatic friends! It will certainly be fun and it will be nice to see you again!

Earthquakes always scare me when they happen and I've lived in Southern California most of my life. Just like any catastrophic event I remember where I was and what I was doing when the last big earthquakes have hit. The only thing you can do is to be prepared. We have anchored our 3 6'x6' curio cabinets (filled with bears!) to the walls as they pose the biggest danger if they were to topple over.

Ann-Marie, I know your nerves are frayed but the feeling will eventually go away after a day or two especially once the aftershocks die down.

Vermont Teddy Bears used to sell this bear but I don't see it anymore on their website.

Sheryl, you're welcome. If you want to go with something cheaper LaQuinta is just a little ways down from Sheraton. This was the hotel of choice for ABC's show. I like it there. LaQuinta has decent and clean rooms and a pretty good continental breakfast.

Gladys, I will definitely not miss it.

Gail, I'm hoping my AZ bear friends go and make it a girlfriend weekend otherwise I would room with you.

Joan and Mike Woessner have a fantastic house! They have literally decorated it from top to bottom! bear_thumb Bears, dolls, plates, lots of antiques (they used to own antique stores). If I find the pictures I'll post some. I've taken a class with Steve Schutt and his teaching background really shows. He was so patient with this reluctant newbie.

Krys

Gladys, my hope that it starts up again. Is it wishful thinking that Linda Mullins will come out of retirement??? I am still so sad. There is nothing like touching and seeing bears in person.

Wow! What a BIG bear show. So many cute bears! Thanks, Jane. The unknown artist #3 is Jody Battaglia (Beary Best Friends) a bear artist from Georgia, USA. She's one of my favorites.

Intercal is far from the fires but should be getting tons of ash and smoke their way like I am. I live in West Irvine. They are closer to the beach. That's not to say that an employee doesn't have a home in the affected areas though. The fire in Orange County called the Santiago fire started less than 2 miles from our home Sunday night (that was scary!) but has since moved southeast about 10 miles (15 from Intercal) from us so we are currently out of harm's way.

Krys

Hey, Laura. It's nice to see you here!

I am saddened by this news. I'm so glad to have spent some time with her this year. I just love her bears. Jim and Kathy were always so nice. I bought these two bears from them in June at the Boyds Jamboree. The three Stier Bears I have mean so much more to me now.

Krys

Thank you for posting this. Kathy and Jim are one of the nicest couples I have ever met in the bear world. I just saw her during the Boyds Jamboree weekend celebration (June 2-4) and she didn't look all that well then. I'm really upset over this.

Krys

If it was a working bathroom I would not use it. Too taboo for me plus it's obviously okay to only use it during the day and not at night where a light (if there was one) inside would illuminate the occupant inside. Now what a sight that would be me. Please see following link about the origin of these pictures....

But of course..in Cali and Florida, it doesn't get cold enough to snow right? Or am I totally up the creek with my 'understanding'? bear_wacko
Any American Christmas movies we watch all have the snow...so you just don't think of Americans having a Christmas any other way.
:

You got that correct Hayley.  The southern half does not get any snow.  Here is Wisconsin we can get some pretty hefty snow storms....and then the kids get 'snow days' which means school is cancelled.  :

We sure do get snow in Southern California up in the mountains (just not an every winter occurrence...that's why we have snow machines). So if we really wanted to we can ski/snowboard and swim/surf at the beach on the same day. This is a pix of Big Bear Lake.
