(Wendy, I'm afraid it's nothing fancy this time   )
yep, the eagle has landed at KD&CO - 6" tipped alpaca eagle with with faux fur head & tail. loc-line spine & wings, leather beak & feet, polymer claws.
'marble' plinth base made entirely of leather.
the eagle has landed on ebay at : http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi … 0439937786 please pop in and have a peek!
thanks, everyone! Gage & Gemma were supposed to be this weeks eBay auction, but I sold them outright soon after posting them to TT. coolbeans!
Linda, the fur is a vintage faux fur recycled from a ladies coat. I thought it was rather unattractive until I shaved an inch off and saw what was underneath  now I wish I had more. . .
meet Gage & Gemma, part of my continuing quest to capture the elusive grizzly bear through the stages of life - this is a pair whos eyes have just opened. Gemma is silicone-filled, loosely jointed & very cuddly like a real cub, Gage is fashioned like my other bears.
this is an amazingly good website for those visiting Montreal - it has all sorts of links & even virtual walking tours.
thanks, marlys
and miss merry-go, I had a cocker named Buddy who was the same - and such a sweetheart - I love cockers!
ms deadman, I'm totally loving your little chef bear, what a charmer, and those chef's whites are spot on!
adding my congrats to all the nominees and this is my 'Polar Pals'
     absolutely adorable - and such great colors!
     really well done, buddy!     did you sculpt in place, or did you do the face seperately & attach after?
thanks, Robert & Aerianna!

OH Kelly, that cub takes my breath away too. Awe thanks for posting it. I am working on a pair of lion cubs right now. What an inspiration.
Glad you like it. And GREAT article in TB & F.
Thanks, Judi! I can't wait to see your lion cubs.
thanks, too, about the TB&F article. I haven't seen the magazine yet, but they posted it online & I'm really pleased with it . I think Ann Goldfarb really likes my stuff
Can I ask.....are we ever going to see you at Hugglets again in the future? I missed you last time..and would love to meet you.. and see your wonderful critters!
Hugs Yvonne :rose:
gosh, Yvonne, there aren't words for how much I missed doing Hugglets this year  I really love that show - and London - and I sure hope to be back next year, but in this economy, who knows? I'm keeping my fingers crossed, though. Thanks for asking
Judi, this is one of the pics I saved with you in mind. . It's a Barbary Lion cub, I had never heard of them before, apparently they are extinct in the wild and there are only about 30 existing in captivity. I liked it's markings.
very realistic! i really like that quality of a teddybear.

Bearfun732,
Ancient Chinese proverb say: 'Be Patient, Little Girl, and much good fortune will come your way'
(ask your mother if you think this needs explaining)
meet 'Gizmo', the latest cub from KD&CO. Gizmo is my representation of a grizzly cub at about 8 weeks old. He's 18" long from the tip of his nose to end of his tail. He's armatured, multi-jointed and all the rest of that stuff (let's just say he'll sit when you ask him to ;-) Gizmo has a complete neck and spine, but his head is also disk-jointed just behind the ears, a really fun permutation that I haven't tried before. claws, paws, nose & eyelids are leather.
Gizmo is now appearing on eBay at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi … 0404413126
I'm celebrating here  :bday: :cake: :bday: :cake: :bday:  this is the first auction that I've had ready ahead of time, instead of desperate, mad rush against the clock! it feels really great
wow, thanks! and thanks for thinking of me, Judi! I have to confess that I never see a picture of a tiger without thinking. . . 'oh, Judi. . . I wonder if she's seen this one. . '
I've added it to my reference files, alongside a few others I've collected over the years. . .
(and I hope mr clark will forgive me . . .

   completely awesome, as usual    I love it that you choose the really challenging short-haired breeds, it lets the level of your skill and craftsmanship shine, because there's just no way you can have a stitch out of place with fur that short.   just flawless
on ebay and the shipping is only $3.00
http://cgi.ebay.com/AVES-APOXIE-SCULPT- … 0192871868
or a pound, shipping is $9.95, tell mom it's still under $10
http://cgi.ebay.com/APOXIE-SCULPT-Natur … .m20.l1116
and it's totally none of my business, but I wish there was some way to tell your mom that industry and creativity in kids should be nurtured and fostered, esp in an age where most kids seem to sit in front of a computer or nintendo game. I started making & selling jewlery when I was 13, because a wonderful lady with a shop/studio in Chicago was so impressed by my interest in her work that she grabbed handfuls of jewlery findings and filled a bag, handed it to me and said 'there, take this and go make your own'. I was selling to 4 shops within a year - and I never even knew her name. . . I'll never forget her, though.
in fact, PM me your address & I'll send you some mohair ;-)
