Yep, maybe we should get them together Tami - the way we are going it could be years before we get one single cat finished!

The eyes are from Sassy Bears - they are so so beautiful Tami, pearlescent gold and very catlike. I can't recommend Sassy Bears eyes highly enough..........really quick delivery too.
They come in 4 colours - gold, brown, green and the most beautiful pale blue. Yummy.

YAY!!!! I think i have achieved the look i want    I really did'nt want to make a cute cat as i kind of like the naughty sly ones - especially persians - i have one of my own and she is, to put it politely, not the most friendly or cute cat in the world.

Well, i need feedback on this so any  opinions you may have please let me know girls.

I still need to add ears, finish trimming the chin and mouth area but essentially this is.........MY FAT PERSIAN CAT 

The finished cat will only be 9" - 10" high so the head is quite small but very very fat. I'm not used to using sythhetic fur either but i must admit that it is so gorgeousy soft and dense that i find myself hankering after buying a few metres of the stuff.

After a really bad day yesterday (i just could'nt get anything right) i finally think i am on the brink of making a cat that looks as i want it to.
Here's a pic anyways, feel free to laugh or go Yuk! ha ha ha

She/he still does'nt have any ears and there is a bit of trimming to be done to the chin area but i am pretty happy with it so far. Fingers crossed i don't ruin it with over zealous scissor sculpting!!!!! It took me ages to make that blooming nose, it's sooo small, i think i must have dropped it 50 times whilst trying to attach it. A cat's head just hit the wall here, it now looks almost exactly how i wanted it to look in the first place but i bet i won't be able to get it to look like that intentionally.
I have also been making polymer cats noses...........i burnt i batch, droppped a 'perfect' nose on the floor and it got covered in fluff from the mohair so it had to go in the bin and the thought i had earlier of making claws has just driven me to hitting the bottle - c'mon it's gone 6 pm, surely i ain't a lush yet?!?!

Help me O sane ones of Teddy-Talk land, i am going loopy here!

I always thought you had to list your bear in 2 categories on eBay.com (ooak artist and other bears) before it automatically showed up in the eBay.co.uk Artist Bears section....................but i could be wrong.

Just keep plugging away Jennie - you can't tell what's around the corner. Sometimes you have to sit back and review the situation (as Fagin sang in the musical Oliver!) and see if you can do anything differently that could help your bears to sell.

What everyone has said here is true, you can't win all the time and you may make the best bears in the world but selling them is a whole new ballgame...............if anyone EVER finds out the secret of what makes a collector choose one bear over another please let me know! ha ha

Chin Up Jennie - take a break from bears for a few days, put your feet up, eat chocolate and catch up on some sleep.

well, i shoved the big fat cat-in-waiting back on the shelf - picked meself up, dusted meself off and made......................TA DAAAAAA...............a little cat.

I know i know, i should'nt give up so easily but i thought better to make a little kitty that actually looks even remotely like a cat than keep battling on with a whopper cat that looks like a Gnu ha ha.

I will be putting my little 'Opoponax Cat' on eBay as soon as i get the BLOODY EARS sorted out - why do ears always bug me so much huh huh?

He is cute though, even El Tel said "oh that's a cute little kitten" when he saw him so he must look a bit like a cat must'nt he?

I know i can, i'm almost there but i can't get it to look how i want it to look.
I have a picture in my head and i have a picture on a scrap of paper that i had drawn but getting it into a 3D animal is driving me nuts.

Anyone who has been here a long time may remember me going on about this grand idea i had to make a big huggy quite realistic cat - it only ever got to the 'crash test dummy stage' and still sits lumpily, in my studio..........................i am trying again. It's one of those projects that i keep going back to you know, the body is fine no problems............it's that bloody FACE!!!!!!!
I want a perfect face and i don't know what that perfect face is yet. It's doomed is'nt it?

I don't know Michelle i'm afraid so don't know what's been going on. Is she a member here? Sorry but so many people have joined TT now so i don't know them all yet.

WELL! there's a nice howdedoody for you! Cheeky beggers! What a rum attitude to have to bears and their makers.............As they say, you pay peanuts you get monkeys (or is it elephants? - whatever).

Times are changing and bear artists are sick of spending stacks of cash and travelling for hundreds of miles to arrive at a show that has only 25 visitors 4 of which just came in out of the rain! Shows are fabulous but only the better run ones - attendence is down dramatically so artists are turning to eBay and other online forms of selling because either they can't or won't risk throwing any more cash on attending shows.
I know people that only do 1 or 2 shows a year and they make sure they are big ones.
I can't blame them to be honest - i only did one. Fell asleep by midday but luckily it was so quiet nobody disturbed me!

If an artist offers a full refund if the buyer is not happy with it where is the problem with buying via the internet?
People buy bloody brides for chrissakes................surely people can buy a bear?

P.S. i love shows and won't rule out doing some in the future, but only the better and bigger ones. I love meeting other bear artists but i don't expect to be £300 out of pocket for a social event when after all, i am at a show to make some money.
