I wondered if anyone was aware if there is any method to avoid the card in carded feet from moving.  I use a very thick card in the feet of my standing character bears, then stuff firmly, and they seem to stay put, but if there is a better way, I would be pleased to know.

They are lovely, Peter.  At this rate, you're going to need to start a Teddy museum! bear_original Wouldn't that be a great job!  Your home must be bursting with beautiful bears.

Hi Julia

You should be able to send bears from the UK as 'International signed for' or 'Airsure'.  I prefer Airsure as the package can be  insured and is tracked end to end.  It isn't cheap.  A 16 inch bear usually costs about £22 - £24.  I think the cost is based on weight and possibly box size.  There is also a limit on the size of box.  Go to the Royal Mail website.  Search for Airsure and look at the conditions and tariffs.  Make sure you use a REALLY sturdy box that is firmly packed and cannot collapse inward.   The boxes can get very battered on their journey.
Hope this helps.

I adore Zotties.  I have three Steiff zotties that range from very small to very large.  My large one wears a German Tyrol style  hat and a large orange ribbon and looks very handsome.  I also have a sweet Lully bear that is similar to a Zottie but was intended as a pram toy, so is unjointed.  The expressions on their faces remind me of my beloved Scamp (my Yorkie who passed away last year).  I also love the Steiff Teddy Baby for the same reason.  I'm sure you will love your Zottie.  They need lots of cuddles.

Hi Pauline

Eva is a poppet.  I love the way her beret and dress match her nose colour!

suejennings

She is just delightful.  Those rocks certainly produced a lovely colour - subtle, but very nice.

suejennings

He's lovely!  That face melts your heart.

suejennings

Wonderful work!  I just love character bears!

suejennings

Thank you Pauline, Katy, Janice, Melisa and Ali.  It REALLY is appreciated!  It's always difficult to know how something will be received when it is new and different to what you normally do.

Aw, that expression says 'It wasn't me! Very cute!

Hi Pauline

I love Cleo.  Such an endearing little bear with lovely, big eyes!

suejennings

Aw she is really cute!  I love her eyes.

suejennings

Beautiful, like all your work!

suejennings

She is wonderful.  I love the colouring on her face.  Just like Faith when she was little!

suejennings

You make lovely ellies.  Really sweet!

suejennings

Thanks Lisa. She's VERY different to my usual bears.  I really like trying something different from time to time.  It always amazes me how small changes in a design and materials can create such a different look.   The result is usually a complete surprise.  Is this bad?

To tell the truth, if she doesn't find a home, I'll probably keep her as she is a fab cuddle!

Hope all is well with you, too!!

Hi

I have used this technique to make pandas.  I trim the fur under where the applied patch will be positioned.  I hem the patch ensuring there isn't too much bulk and it lies flat.  I then position the patch, and attach the eye through the bear head.  Lastly, I use small stitches around the patch in a matching thread to secure the patch to the head.   Hope this makes sense! bear_original

Airbrushing is probably quicker, but could be a disaster if you don't achieve the look you want first time.  The advantage of the method above is that your patch will be a perfect colour match for the bear and you can reposition as many times as needed if it goes wrong.

blushes1.jpgBlushes is 14 inches of sweet, cuddly blush and cream alpaca with soft, ivory cashmere pulled toes.  Her nose is hand-moulded using black epoxy clay.  She has 5 joints, including a wobble-neck joint.  She is softly stuffed with poly fibre and plastic beads have been added to give her a nice weight.  She is the second of a new design style of cuddly teddies that are less realistic than my usual bears.  She is available for adoption via Bearpile.

How lovely to meet up and in an icecream parlour, too.  My favourite things - teddies, teddy talk and icecream.  I'm not sure about the heat, though!

suejennings

He is wonderful.  He has SO much personality!
