We are at a minus 22F this morning (about minus 30 C) the 4th day in a row of below 0 temps, another cold one tonight, then a warming trend. Daytime hasn't been above 0. I know there are other places in the US colder,  and presumably, Canada will be colder........................How cold are you?

As a person who uses synthetic furs and makes most everything for children, this definately has me worried. I signed the petition, wrote to my Congree people and no other new to add. I did talk with the local Small Business Administration and asked about this. She was going to contact their library to do research. Hopefully I will be hearing from her soon as to what effect this will have on the small businesses...................

I will submit a post once I hear! Meanwhile, I will continue to advertise and do my Teddy Bear Workshops for kids!

Interesting information, Tami, Thanks. Last year, while I was walking Ti, I spoke with a person who was working, stopping at each power pole. I stopped and talked with her, the third time I passed, and she was testing for stray electricity. I don't know if it is NYS law, or just a rule from our Power company, but at least once a year, every power pole gets tested to make sure there is not electricity that is escaping.......and this I presume, is being done because someone, somewhere, got hurt from stray electricity.

If I could jump on a plan with all expenses paid, a world trip would be wonderful! A return to Antarctica would be a must, a stop in China to see real Moon Bears and Panda Bears, Australia and a visit North to visit the Polar Bears in the wild!

I am about 7 hours from Niagara Falls...............the other side of the state. The Adirondack Park is just south of me (12 miles) and the St. Lawrence River is just North of me (30 miles)

At the time I took the pics, we had about 14inches of snow on the ground.

Christmas-5.jpgChristmas-4.jpgChristmas-3.jpgChristmas-2.jpgChristmas-1.jpgIn my backyard!

Twas the day before Christmas, hubby and I home, dog underfoot, wherever we go.
Prepare to go to breakfast, out my window I look, and what do I see, but a few ears.
Look through the binoculars and there I do see, 2 deer nestled in the brush.
Hubby took pictures, dog took no notice.
Left for breakfast and continued the day.
Playing in the house, out the window I look, there is a deer eating in the brush,
the other in the neighbor's yard.
Hubby takes pictures, dog goes outside, sits to watch.
Deer stare, dog stares back.
Dog wants to get closer, deer jump away, but not too far,
Hubby took picture of dog watching deer and deer watching dog.

Merry Christmas to all.......................

I would have loved that if it happened when I was in one of them Blow-Up Boats! The penquins actually do seem very tame when you see them in the wild. They are very trusting. I only wish one came up closer to me than they did.....I sat in the middle of the beach, watched 2 penquins come along, look very curiously at me, then they each went on a different side.............Thanks for the post, brings back very good memories!

Laura Lynn, I can imagine that the canned frosting would collapse the house......but a good excuse to eat it!

Lynette, maybe you should start a tradition!!!!!

Roxanne, Love the lighthouse church!

Since this Lean-To Log Cabin is on display in a public place for a month, we will not be eating it! I probably won't even pick it up, I will let them take care of it. I love looking at them, but besides looking pretty, what are they for? At least bears you can hug and cuddle with!

Thanks for the compliments, I am pretty proud of my girls.

gingerbread-084.jpggingerbread083.jpggingerbread-082.jpggingerbread-081.jpgI don't know how many of you TTers make Gingerbread Houses. I never did until a few years ago when my Girl Scouts decided they wanted to enter the TAUNY (traditional arts in upstate new york) competetion. They have entered something for the past 4 or 5 years. Last year they won 1st place for their entry, and this year they won 1st place again for their lean-to entry. Since we are Girl Scouts, and live near the Adirondack Park where there are a lot of lean-tos, that is what the girls decided to do. The girls did most of the work, I made the ginerbread parts, they put it together.

The cots are made from pretzels (legs) sugar wafers, chocolate for the bed, and the sleeping bag is a piece of fruit Roll-up. The ground is grated gingerbread, coconut and confectionary sugar. the campfire is sugar babies, pretzels and fruit roll ups.

The girls are all 16 years old and this is their 5th year with me.

Anyone else have a Gingerbread house? Show us pics!!!

Thanks for looking.............Ellen

I will add my 2 cents worth. We have an electric fence, and Ti respects it. He has escaped through the back corner, why? because he heard thunder in the distance and needed to get away...... My concerns with the electric fence is more about other dogs/animals coming into the yard, and having a friendly dog who shows them the way into the house.! (my neighbor's dog)

I do have a doggie door so Ti can go in and out as he wants, a very nice thing. I do take him for a walk every (at least most) mornings. He loves to go out and sit in the sunshine watching people while I am bear making.  We have been working with him on the 'pack mentality' as far as barking and greeting people, it does work, but you need to train yourself as well as the dog  bear_original .

The biggest thing with any dog is training. You need to take the time required to train at the beginning and time to re-inforce the training as time goes on.

I would not have another dog without the doggie door and electric fence. I just hope any future dogs are as good and trainable as my Australian Shepherd, Ti.

Good luck, no matter how you decide to go.

Penquins are so much fun to be around! I wish I could get back to Antarctica and walk among them again......The memories just don't do it any more, I want to be back with them.

Enjoy the time with the penquins......take lots of picutres. I was not allowed to touch the penquins, hope they take to you hugging them!
