Magic is adorable, Sue, I can see a part of the design of "Scamp" and "Tramp" (those curved arms are so sweet), combined with the gorgeous white mohair from "Bashful".
He is absolutely gorgeous

where is the best place to buy in the us?
Tami,
There is a list of all the shops that sell Charlie Bears in the US on their website : http://www.charliebears.co.uk
Click on "Links to Stockists" and scroll all the way down to the end (the US are mentioned last).
I have got several Charlie Bears, plush and mohair, and they were an excellent and affordable way to start my teddy bear hug (until I unfortunately discovered OOAK artist bears ).

As the experiments (and orphanages) have proved, children's being able to receive a soft warm cuddle from mom, dad, a caregiver, or in a pinch -- a teddy bear -- is not only a nice thing, it's an absolute necessity.
A very interesting topic, Becky, and one that I strongly take to heart.
At the beginning of the 20th century behaviorism and its founder, John Watson, played a detrimental role in promoting the rearing of children without affection, mother's love or any kind of emotion. Watson proposed raising babies on "baby farms" run strictly by his so-called scientific principles : children were never to be hugged or embraced or given any kind of affection, except a pat on the head. The results were devastating : children grew up to be like zombies, their immune system was ruined and their mental growth was damaged beyond repair.
It's hard to imagine that behaviorism ruled the world of psychology for more than half a century.
If you are interested in reading more about the experiments of Harry Harlow and the importance of emotions among animals and humans, I highly recommend a recent book by a leading biologist and primatologist Frans de Waal, called "the age of empathy".
And you are so right : a teddy bear is an absolute necessity !
I'd love to hear other TT'ers opinion on it.
Hugs,
Peter & Vincent (he agrees with me)
Christopher & Emma are absolutely adorable, Joanne, I love them both as well !
I don't know why, but if I had to choose one (I should be so lucky ), Emma would be my favourite.
I think it may have to do with her very long muzzle, combined with the short arms, that gives her (and Christopher as well) a very endearing quality. I most definitely hope we will see more of these bears !

Oh how I wish my company would give me such a sweet bear when I retire (in 20 years or so ... ) !

Hi Karo,
What a lovely photo of you and your little family.
The bears and bunnies look so sweet .
I tried reading your blog, but I am afraid I couldn't understand a word of it.
Although, could it be that : "Dniu Pluszowego Misia" means "teddy bear day" ?? So a teddy bear would be :"Pluszowego Misia" ??
And it's on November the 25th right ? Hey, who knew TT could be so educational.
Hugs,

Hi Everyone,
First of all my very best wishes to all members of TT : may the New Year bring all that your heart desires  !
Even though 2009 won't go down in the history books as a great year, I certainly ended it in a great way for me.
Just on the last day of the year a big parcel was delivered to my door and it contained this wonderful bear lovingly made by Sue Jennings.
His name is "Tramp" and he is based on a design that Sue made earlier ("Scamp").
I was so thrilled to have him before the end of the year, I almost kissed the postman (no ladies, he does not look like George Clooney ).
He is about 20" tall (the bear that is, not the postman ), made from gorgeous tipped Shulte mohair, double-neck jointed, hand moulded nose and has the most adorable face
.
He is joined by his sister (or is it girlfriend) "Bashful" (another beautiful teddy by Sue Jennings) who was adopted earlier this year by me.
I hope you like him as much as I do.

Hi Katy,
Mahogany is an adorable bear and he's just begging to be hugged .
What a lovely story about your gran ! Ah, you're never too old to learn to love a teddy.
And Mahogany is going to be a big hit with all those grandma's and granddads hugging him and spoiling him.
There is just one downside to your lovely gesture : your gran is going to pretty sorry she didn't start hugging teddy bears 50 years ago !
Well done
Hugs,
Peter
Tilly is just delightful; her fur is so gorgeous and luxurious !
And what an adorable expression !!! I just want to give her a big cuddle.

That is soooo beautiful, Sophie. It's so nice to see that Malko's sister and her husband really wanted to give you something special.
I also googled the name "Hanson Toys" and got the same result as you : the text doesn't give you any explanation about its origins or its age, but it does say that it has a red stamp on its back. Maybe yours has one as well ? And the painting of the bear and the background is different as well, so it could be handpainted.
Wouldn't it be fun to start a little private investigation about its origins ??
Hugs,
Peter
