AWWWWW he looks like a little kitten just been born !!!
and if that all fails Susan. here's the photograph with the background removed already for you to add or tweak etc just grab it off the screen LOL !!!!
thanks sooo much Anne. if this Dr on tuesday does not help me i will not be held accountable for my actions hehehe !
i hope i get some help anyway. i wanna SEW ! i had the cutest idea of making a Mole Bear today. guess that's one idea for the notepad for the future
thankyou for peeking at Belle
Once you have the photograph opened in your paint programme. this is what i did.. ! (the tools might be a bit different because im using Paint Shop Pro not Photoshop but im sure they both have the same tools more or less :)
Now in photoshop do you have a layers option ?? where you can add a new layer to the photograph ??
If so, add a new layer to your photograph...(i dont know how to do this in photoshop but in PSP you select the LAYERS and select Add New raster Layer.. have a look see if there is an option to add a layer...
Now you need to draw around the edge of your bear (on the new layer).. it's alot easier if you zoom in on the photograph and work your way around. you need to draw the outline as close as you can to the outline of the bear making sure not to get too much of the background in with it... now i just used my paintbrush in any colour so you can see the outline.. go all the way around your bear making sure the outline is completely joined. if there are holes in the outline you wont be able to remove the bear !
okay once you have the outline done.. you need to use your magic wand and press anywhere on the image OUTSIDE of the bear outline...
Then you need to select the actual photograph layer.. and just press CUT.. it should cut out the background and leave the bear ! and you just delete the outline layer which removes the outline of the bear
try this and let me know how you get on, it sounds ocmplicated but it takes less than 5 minutes ( the longest part is drawing the outline)
there will always be a few of the background pixels left over, so when you want to add a new background colour select a colour from the pixels on your photograph and the left over outline wont stand out (unless you zoom right in and erase each tiny pixel by hand but i wouldnt recommend that. it is a long slow process LOL
no problem Shelli. im not the worlds best teacher but it's worth a shot.
i will just write up the instructions on what i did in wordpad then i will paste them here. give me a few minutes
Susan. what paint programme are you using? I used paint shop pro and this is what i came up with on your photo (hope you dont mind me editing it just for the purpose to show you. i can try and explain how i did it using PSP if you like it was pretty simple. only about 4-5 steps lemime know and i will try explain
My hair is naturally straight. everyone in my family have straight hair. not a kink, wave or curl in sight so it's pretty amusing to me to have to use straightners when you couldnt get any straighter than my hair LOL!
oh Helena i can imagine how small your hair must have felt after having curly hair all your life a friend of mine when i was at school had lovely thick curly hair !!
Yep PSP has the magic wand, you can remove alot of the background using that,
and the lasso PSP has that too which seems to be the best way of getting the bear off. by tracing around the edges of the bear you can then lift them ! (i just tried it on a pair of Pandas photograph and it works perfectly
Cool !! :)
Thanks Shell, im trying to figure a way to get the bear off the background in PSP (an easy way), you can remove the background the more solid of a colour it is the better but as the pixels are all different shades it's hard unless you erase it by hand,
Im gonna try what you said you do. draw around it and see what features PSP has to do something similar, I'm sure there is one
Shelli, Gail, Jane & Dilu - Thanks soo much i will let you know at xmas what she thought of her
I'm pretty sure she will be pleased with her , i sure hope so
)
thanks all for peeking. i really appreciate it
lots of huggies !
Oh he is such a cheeky chappie !!
hokay. i had a fiddle in Paint Shop Pro.. not as good as Shelli's results but here are a couple of pics so those of you using PSP can achieve some good effects too !! before & after pic !
Hello Ladies. wow Such great tips THANKYOU all SO much !! the straighteners i have are fully plated (no holes) but they do have ionic holes in the side to let out some ionic thing (according to the box) LOL !!!!
Oh Jenny..the thatched roof., mine kinda looks a bit like that when i did it hahah ! i will try curling it in a bit next time !! thankyou for the tip !!!!! i was pretty scared to try them having never used them before. i was very afraid of burning my skin or something. so once i build up confidence with them i hope i can get better at using them
Amanda- Yep mine goes upto 250 degrees Salon temperature heat. , it has a setting from 1-25..i put mine on 1.. it burns your face when you let your hair go the heat coming off it and you better not touch your hair after doing it because it BURNS ! lol. and that was on setting 1.. LOL next time im going to try it on number 3 ! i probbly end up burning my hair off if i use 25 LOL
Dilu - I am going to see a wrist specialist for my bad wrist, see what this one thinks.. so lucky for me he wont be needing to see my hairy legs *chuckle* unless he is a kinky old devil and asks to see my legs in which case he will get a black eye tee hee, i will let you know how it goes just an outpatients appointment !! : )
Well Koalas are really popular on ebay so you might do well but from past experienece watching bears on ebay i have seen some start of at $1 and not reach much more amazingly !!!!
having had a quick look in PSP which i use (i dont have photoshop) ive found that PSP also has alot of those functions so those of us using PSP can achieve the same effects (almost)
I'm yet to find how to remove the bear from the background without manually erasing the background itself !!!
WOw that is AMAZING !!!
hehehe yep they do seem to have a knack of taming wild hair don't they ???
the mad thing is my hair is as straight as can be, it's never curly or anything until i got it cut short. now when it dries naturally it flicks right out at the end. so i need to straighten them with hair straightners but alas... it didnt work as well when i did it LOL !!!
i might need to try some of those frizz ease products next time !
Thanks soo much Danni it was hard finding a day to get her photograped ( i always do mine outside) well it's been rain rain rain..so today i set everything up outside. the backdrop and everything and of course the wind kept blowing the backdrop everywhere so in the end i thought what the heck and i took them indoors lol
Hey everyone. does anyone have any knowledge with hair straighteners?? of the human kind not for bears..for my own hair.. i got my hair cut into a new style and the stylists used straighteners on my hair after she blast dried it with the hair dryer, I've never used them before until today and i didnt get the same results as the stylist did, my hair is more flyaway than when she did it. she sprayed my hair with something (which i assumed was water) before she used them, wonder if that makes any difference?? or maybe the heat setting? i used the lowest heat settings as those things BURN, the heat left on your hair is amazing !
Well i sure do hope i can master the use of them by tuesday or i will be going to the hospital with flyaway hair that sticks out at the ends like a ski slope if i dont use the straighteners LOL
what a little sweetie pie she is ! you're friend will be overjoyed im sure
Thankyou soo soo much Sophie
Aww thanks Sooo much Helena
Thanks so much SueAnn & Heather i do hope she likes it!
i am SO pleased i have her finished because my arm/wrist is too bad to sew right now so i'm glad i started her early so i can relax now knowing she's made and ready
I'm going to buy a nice red shiny box to put her inside with some white tissue paper inside
her red bauble on her arm jingles too so when you pick her up she makes a nice xmas jingle sound
