Hi everyone,
I just want to let you all know my new studio gallery will be opening soon. We will have art sculpted figurative dolls, artist bears and an assortment of marionette characters which will included humans, bears and other creations.
My Studio Gallery & Marionette Theater will be putting on performances for the local community at the Reed Opera House. We are very excited about this new venture. I say we because, I can not take all the credit for all the work when I have a wonderful group of people at the Reed Opera House and a local theater performance group that will be working with me to create all this fun!
We will also be featured in a few magazines and I hear our local broadcasting station is coming by.
This has been a very busy venture for me with all the creations to make and studio step up, but it has been a wonderful experience and I am looking forward to the performances and all the activities that I have planned.
Thank you to everyone who has sent me messages and all your kind words. I am very touched and appreciative to each and everyone of you. You know who you are.
I will be posting information, videos and hope you come by and join in on the fun!
Exciting and fun times I hope to share with you all.
Cheers
kassie
Thank you everyone.
Thank you Robert. The costuming was the hardest part for me. I am not that experienced with sewing clothes. It took me awhile to get it in my head on how to create it the way I wanted. Each different colored piece of fabric was cut out in the shaped strips and then sewn together. It was a brain tees-or.
Hi Beth, I am glad you like him. Thank you so much for your kind words. I do truly enjoy sculpting and I am always rewarded when others enjoy my work. Thank you.
Hi Tami, Thank you
Hi Angela, Thank you I did see some of them and they are beautiful works of art. It must be very hard on the judges to have to pick from so many amazing artists. I would not want their job.
Hey Maria, got your email hon.

Hi Tami, thank you so much. I did see the winners list today.
I did not win this year, but this is ok. There were a lot of wonderful entries this year. Amazing pieces!!! Being only in my second year in sculpting figurative pieces, I feel honored to have been selected last year along side so many talented artists who have been making dolls much longer than me. I look forward to next year!!!
here is my entry - some of you may have seen him already. These are his professional photos.

Hello fellow tt talks,

My pictures are not as good as I would like them due to a light box problem, doll is too big for my light box. I hope to get him completed and take him to my photographer very soon here.
description:
This art doll is designed after 1648 and 1657 skomorokhs who where in Russian, in Old East Slavic, were medieval East Slavic harlequins, i.e., actors, who could also sing, dance, play musical instruments, and compose most of the scores for their oral/musical and dramatic performances. The skomorokhs appeared in Kievan Rus no later than in the mid-11th century, and the frescos in the Saint Sophia Cathedral in Kiev are there to prove it. The Church often railed against the skomorokhi and other elements of popular culture as being irreverent, detracting from the worship of God, or even downright diabolical. The skomorokh art reached its peak in the 15th-17th century. Their repertoire included mock songs, dramatic and satirical sketches called glumy, performed in masks and skomorokh dresses to the sounds of domra, balalaika, gudok, bagpipes, or buben (a kind of tambourine).
This is a 22 in doll, from boots to hat is 27 in- sculptured head and hands with a soft sculptured body with pose-able body inner-skeleton armature designed by me. Neck, arms, wrists, elbows, knees, ankles, spine, etc., all joints move in the motion of a human skeleton. Spin bends and rotates, as well as knees, ankles, wrist, shoulders, elbows complete motion in legs and neck turn; tilt from side to side, up down and turn side to side.
His head, hands are hand sculptured from puppen clay and his suit is hand made from the finest velvet and silk, as well as his velvet boots, with silver accessories. He will also has a face mask hand made from puppen clay.
This doll has a 4hx5x8 mahogany wooden music box, the music is a 30 teeth mechanism that plays a russian song– which will put the total height of this doll display to 31 in. He has a jester type sceptre. Also he will be accompanied by a domra and Buben – playing instruments. (still being made - picture is included)
